Rein's Journal: Entry #7

Elle and I met with Vex today to draft out a plan. As the only friendly local we know, Vex gave us a good rundown on the city's defenses and patrols. He's no expert, but he said that he's had some experience as an engineer and knows which parts of the walls are weaker than others. The Hounds have a small compound right on the outskirts of the city. That's where they're most likely to be keeping Basse and Edgeside, Elle's client.
 
The best way to tackle this rescue is through stealth. Going in guns blazing is a surefire way to get us all killed, so we're not going to do that. Luckily, and I can't believe I'm saying this, we can use the swamp to our advantage. Under the cover of night, the black mists will mask our advance and we can slip right through the cracks. There's at least a couple dozen guards in the compound alone. Three guarding the main gate and a heavy iron door blocking the back entrance (no way we'd be able to crack that without drawing too much attention). If all goes well, the Hounds will never even know we were there. That is, until they notice some of their prisoners missing. I hope we're ready for this. Elle and I are the only ones these prisoners got, so it's up to us. We move in tonight.
