It's done. Basse and Edgeside were successfully rescued, but the same cannot be said for Josslun.

Elle and I slipped into the compound just as planned. No one detected us, using the mists to cover our tracks. When we reached the prisoner cages we found Basse and Edgeside. They'd been beaten, but not badly. Thankfully Basse's old wounds looked healed. In the cage next to them was Josslun. He'd been horribly burned on the side of his face. Fucking animals. We picked the lock and freed them, but Josslun was unable to stand. Elle pressed me to leave him, that there was nothing we could do, but I couldn't abandon him. Not after what he did for us. I turned towards Basse and thanked him for entrusting in me. Then I told him to go. Elle would take him the rest of the way. He didn't want to leave me, but he understood. I thanked Elle and wished them the best of luck. Basse and Edgeside are in good hands with her.

Josslun protested me staying to help him, but I was hearing none of it. I wouldn't leave an innocent man behind. Carrying him through the compound proved difficult, but doable with good timing. The opening we came through was a no-go however. We would've had to make a mad dash for the exit, but if I had to carry Josslun, that wouldn't have left us with enough time. So, the only way out was the front entrance. I was ready to face them. I was ready to die. I've lived a long enough life to see that good men like Josslun are the ones that need to survive. Not old shitbags like me. It was about halfway through our escape when I felt the rush of blood down my back. Josslun was losing blood, and a lot of it. It didn't take a surgeon to figure out that he wasn't going to make it. Goddammit. He didn't deserve this. The look in his eyes. I'm sorry. So fucking sorry.

The alarms raised and the guards in the compound rallied. Josslun grabbed a crossbow and told me to run. The Hounds had already kicked in the door as I left through the back window. I stopped hearing the crossbow after three shots. Then I kept running and didn't look back.
