Breaktime is over

by Lim Dul

The Iron put out an all call for all available adventurers. They don't usually communicate this way, something serious must be up. The leadership talked to a room full of others around a large table with a Map of the realms. Looking at the map, things seemed to be heating up. One party had just returned with more information. A priest, a paladin , a barbarian and a sorlock. I had adventured with all but the Priest. As the meeting went on, the Iron announced that numerous incursions of a serious nature were occurring around the map.

The iron looked to the party who had just returned. They seemed to be quite experienced. They were given first right of refusal of the issue around the region. The priest, Renaldine, balked. "I have been away from my prayers to long", she said. "I must spend time in contemplative study and prayer to Kelemvor."

The rest of the party seemed uneasy to be without her, but they understood her need.

I can understand the responsibilities of servitude. Dispater is not shy in letting his demands known of his Painkillers. Up to this point, I have had no reason to whine. The benefits of my servitude to Dispater far outweigh the ball and chain I wear in service.

Once the priest left, the Iron petitioned the party again on what they wished to challenge. They choose action in the north where the Gods of Chaos seemed to be organizing. To a peaceful community, this could be serious. They needed a fourth so I stepped out.

"If war is your choice, you would be foolish not to take me. I am experienced in the precepts of war and,, if the Gods of Chaos are organizing, the other Gods are definitely watching." Lim Dul leaned onto the table holding the maps. "You would be fools not to take the likes of me".

Kemuiral, Rory and Freya each had adventured with me in the past. Just not together as this foursome. For the most part, we are without a dedicated healer. Seeing this, the Iron assigned a fifth to our party. Not usual procedure. Friar Karl would assist us in healing. He is new to me

We are on foot and the trip is going to take time. We are hugging the mountains up to a pass. Each of us has some responsibility to the group. Rory is our tracker. We are doomed. Up to this point, he has led us right into a deep fog and a river where we lost a bunch of our rations.

This is going to be a long trip.....

We come across a downed air ship. Taking a moment, I notice that there is no wild life sounds. That usually means an alpha predator is in the area. Upon investigating the downed ship, we discover said alpha predator, Blue Dragon whelplings. THREE OF THEM!!!!!

They discover us. I get teh jump n them literally and engage one of the whelplings. It responds with a breath of lightening. I am not usually the most agile person, but experience has taught me about dragons. The bolt lightning grazes me, but doesn't land steady. The battle was pretty easy over all. We defeated two of the three with minimal effort. The problem was, the third took flight. I cannot fly!!!!!

To my surprise, Rory CAN!!!!! And!!! He can fly faster then they can! The third dragon was already wounded and the barbarian took care of it post haste.

The dragon came crashing to the ground, ending the conflict and preventing the youngling from bringing back their mother.

I suggest harvesting the scales to sell. We decide to head on until we made camp. My overview of the first day is, we can fight just fine, but the rest of the responsibilities are going to be shaky. Especially the navigating to our destination. On the first day, we got lost. That doesnt bode well for us.

We shall see........
