We been through a bit. Seems like it has been one massive challenge after another. How does all this lead to me father? Dispater, what about our deal? Maybe, this is training so I have the skills to defeat him.
The Chaos Corrupted Gem Dragon made me feel small. It just flew off the bow and peppered us. I have the ability to magically fly, just not at that speed. Rory saved us. Frankly, I am surprised that nobody died.
The forces of Chaos are better managed then I imagined. We beheaded the Dragon and dropped it on the forces in an attempt to impact morale. Didn't have any effect. We will need to strengthen defenses until we can rout their morale. Otherwise, this will be a short battle.
Upon landing in Praag, we choose to activate the runic protections of Praag. They appear to be in the under depths of the city. Dormant for many years. We have to activate the Rune Heart. This powerful magic fuels city defenses. Leadership has told us that nobody has returned from the depths in years. Most likely, the Chaos Forces are below.
The dwarves were able to supply some supplementary magic items before heading out. Kemurial is his typical wishy washy self. Waiting for us to agree on a destination. A rune master, Max Schrieber, accompanied us. Entering the caverns we find a well managed stone complex. Well carved, but the shadows seem to flicker. We proceed forward and are attacked by several shadows.
There is a danger with undead. They drain life force in many ways. Killing them isn't always difficult, but the risks are great. We defeat the shadows easily and light seems to fill the room. 6 doors are before us, 2 in each direction West, North and East. We choose east and head out.
Max informs us that he is staying behind and begins crafting a rune at the entrance. Could this be the light at the end of this tunnel?
We move through a door and I head the pitter patter of foot steps. Unfortunately, they hear the clinking and clanking of my metal boot. Stealth is not a skill I possess. We are attack by many Gnolls, and a mechanical Gorgon. It's breath is highly dangerous. It can turn one to stone. The battle is not difficult, but it does drain resources.
Prior to leaving, we were gifted with scrolls of basic magic. Thinking ahead, I select Prayer of Healing. The others, are not so forward thinking and select one time self defense spells. After the Gnoll battle, I am forced to use my Prayer of Healing. Hopefully, I didn't make a strategic error in using this too soon. I feel like we are in the heart of chaos and resting will be difficult.
I wasn't wrong, we immediately run into Skaven. Those rat like people who are chaos warped, and another mechanical Gorgon!!!! Once again, we defeat the throngs of chaos easily. There is just one problem. One escaped. Now they know we are here.
That light just maybe a sunbeam heading for us. The challenges await us.....
