Finally, I was called upon by my faction. I am to accompany the leader Onthar Frume and one of my best friends (Raven) will come as well to a tavern called A pair of Black Antlers. We arrived and met with some leaders and members of the Hell Riders and the Flamming fist factions. At the meeting the leaders decided that we are to work together towards a common goal and that is to get rid of the Cult of the Dragon. We are to head north to see what activities they are conducting and to eliminate any threats to the realm. This is my time to prove that my training in combat and if need politics to the test.
We are to head out immediately to confront this cult before Elturel’s anniversary of the second sun’s rising. Just in case the cult plans to do anything during this celebration. On our way out of the city we stopped at Ravens friend’s wedding where she officiated for the married couple. It was very beautiful, but I really didn’t have a great time as I was more focused on the task at hand. It was unfortunate but something that had to be done as I wanted to make sure our new makeshift party didn’t get surprised during this ceremony by the cult if they were here. After the quick ceremony and little celebration, we again headed north when I heard a small girl yell for help and the sound of dogs or wolves in the nearby woods. My companions and I jumped to action, when we got to the cry for help it was nonetheless my niece Grace in a tree surrounded by wolves. Grabbed my weapons to jump and save my niece from these beasts. My foolish niece was out trying to earn money so she could go to school (college). I promised that she had nothing to worry about and that the family will take care of the school bill when it gets to that time. In return she promised not to leave the city and beg for money on the road.
New companion, we killed the wolves, all of them except one. There was a runt of the group that looked to be starving. I gave it some rations and ensured it would be safe and there would be more food if the dog wanted to stay. I think she took a liking to me and started to follow me. She might be a new family dog. I know my kids will love her and well hopefully my wife will as well.
We finally arrived where the Cult of the Dragon was known to be at. The weird thing is that it was more than just the one cult it seemed that another Cult had attacked the Dragon cult. Some of my companions recognized the second Cult as the Cult of the Dead Three. The group decided to try to be stealthy…I tried but I should have known that I’m not one to sneak around or hide in the shadows. That’s not what my training was for. We were seen, and combat ensued. The first two fights went well but the last of the Cult proved to be a formidable fight. We won but not easily. Looked through the chest and boxes for intel or anything of value. We found a letter that will most likely be the next place the gauntlet heads. Baldur’s gate to some bath house near the upper city.
As we settled down to rest for the night, I caught something near my pack. Some sort of bird was trying to steal some rations. Me and Elliott scared the bird off. I think that Elliott has started to like me, and we are bonding. Maybe this can be my companion. They do say a dog is a man’s best friend.
As the night passed, I woke up sweating, something was off. The air was hotter than usual, the sky was this beautiful orange color. The ground suddenly shook, and our group quickly packed camp to head back to Elturel. As we got closer to home people crying and fleeing from Elturel, my heart sank. What happened? Why are these people fleeing? Were we too late? Did one of the cult members get away?
Suddenly, my heart sank even more, and I may have blacked out. It hit me FAMILY. I started yelling their names AERONA…. AJAZ…. BARIN…. LUNA… ALASTAR…. HOPE… DENZIL…. EZZIE…. GRACE…. ELI…. Nothing, I heard NOTHING. Everything that meant anything to me was now gone…. No one has seen or heard from them! My Wife, 3 kids, My Dad, My Mom, brother, his wife and 3 kids…. gone, just…. gone! I talked to them yesterday. How...why...who…what……
For the next 5 days we were on the road. Off to Baldur’s Gate to follow the lead. This trip was one of the longest I have ever endured. Seemed like years had passed while we traveled. To be honest I don’t remember much about traveling. Almost seemed that I was blacked out and only came to when all the refugees were at the gate and the gate guard was hassling some of my new companions for the faction they represent. As a Noble I talked about my group to the guard. The guard had no regard for my family name and treated me as if I was no one. I tried kicking him in the chest but all I could do was think about how lonely I will be with my family gone…taken…ripped from my life. Well, I ended up in shackles and arrested. Although it turned out for the better as we have badges to go around the lower town and can make some money helping this lowlife guard with his problem in the city.
