Mission Notes: Gaedren's Little Lambs (Lv. 0)

We met at Zellera's house. I don't know how she found the others, but she knew well enough about my problem's with Gaedran Lamm. He's done something to all of us. Took Rello. Framed Batty's mother for murder and malpractice and drove her underground. And...something to Dez (maybe turned them into a vampire? Investigation still in progress) and Rylin (murder??? investigation still VERY in progress).
 
The first night, all we did was some reconnaissance. Lamm is powerful and too well-connected. But we found his hideout, in an old fishery. And, across the street, we found Garu. She was shitfaced, but one she sobered up she was willing to help us. I convinced the troupe to help me put on a distraction and we were able to chase down two escaping kids. Well, they turned out to be one escaping kid and one gnome guard called Hookshanks. He nearly killed us, but we were able to capture him. And while we were chasing them down, Rylin and Garu trapped a half-orc guard named Giggles and arrested him.
 
We took Hookshanks with us to Batty's mom's clinic. Ack patched us up and then we borrowed her back room to interrogate Hookshanks and take his gear (a kukri, his small studded leather armor, disguise kit and a key). He told us that there were three guards (himself, Giggles and a man named Yargen), plus one guard dog, Gaedran and the orphans.
 
We left him tied up there until after we finish. Batty convinced her mom to give her arsenic (2 doses). We bought a beer and a kebab (for dog-friend-making purposes), and dosed the beer. We hid, and Batty gave Yargen the poisoned beer. Come to find out, the motherfucker gave it to the DOG.
 
After waiting the 10 minutes the arsenic needed to work, Rylin knocked on the side door with the secret knock Hookshanks told us about. Yargen opened the door, un-poisoned, but deeply unsettled by something about seeing Rylin (see: murder??). He stammered something about Rylin supposedly being dead. Then, Rylin fucking destroyed him and I finished the job (non-lethally) with a one-two tap.
 
Batty healed the dog, her mom started moving kids out of the building towards the temple Dez recommended and I made friends with a little girl named Wulfhilda. She told me several interesting things - Lamm was downstairs, below a trap door, with Rello and a "gobblegut." The gobblegut, it turns out, is a jigsaw shark.
 
We took what Yargen had on him, (master key, dagger, four acid flasks, two alchemists fire, two elixir's of life, scroll of acidic burst, a formula book) and tied him up with a sack over his head. Then we searched the area and found another hidden door, with a dumbwaiter behind it. Then we opened the trapdoor and saw nothing underneath us but water and a tiny, shitty bridge. Tossed some chum in and the jigsaw shark came right up to eat. So I hopped down (graceful, beautiful, effortless) and the other threw me some chum to distract the shark. We made it down and now's the moment of truth. Behind that door is Gaedran Lamm and Rello.

Loot: a +1 magic dagger for Ella, a hand crossbow, small latched coffer containing 20 doses of Shiver, and in the room where Gaedran slept we find a ledger of a complete account of Gaedran's criminal empire. various treasures totaling 15 gold and a brooch depicting a house drake and an imp curled around each other in a yin yang symbol. The drakes eye is an amethyst and the imp's emerald. Rylin identifies it as the seal of the city of Korvosa, and it would have belonged to Queen Ileosa Also an ornate box containing the Harrow deck - and head - of Zelara.
 
Her spirit is tied to the deck. She had hoped to be free after Gaedran's death, but she remains here. It makes her believe something is coming. Alarm bells begin to ring across the city. Chaos reigns outside. Garu reappears and tells us that the King is dead.
