Demons and Dragons OH MY!

by Krug Dragnar

The reach and the appeal of adventuring has finally lured me away from Midgard and the comforts of my tribe. The tales and rumors of a rather large Green Dragon seen leaving, fleeing? from his Den is all it took to rest me from the comforts of Midgard. I do like this new settlement not like the plague and disease of these large sprawling cities with people packed on top of the other philstering in their own filth. A small encampment amongst the woods small tents and makeshift huts with various wares, shops and taverns. The people varying in race and living amongst nature the way it should be. I came here to inquire exploring this dragon, Zuldraith's lair and as to way he would leave hastily and clearly for the glory and honor of combat if he remains or can be found. I however was not the only one seeking this dragon for whatever reason they may so we formed a party and headed out. Rolin the wood elf was one that I took a liking to, the wood elves live off the land and only take what they must with the upmost respect and adoration of nature and its many bounties. A rather elderly man , Tyrson that has decided to come on these journeys in his elder years for the experiences in his old age, peculiar. He proved to be a rather proficient healer and sustained me during battle later on, however rude mouthed and crass rather irritable. Lastly Oculo a sorcerer of sorts proved to be useful as well bestowing blessings and guidance more than once on me during battle and and blasting enemies apart with arcane bombardement . Alas I digress time for tales of journey to Zuldraiths lair and the strange happenings that occured.
Our group visited some mystical lake where Marhault himself blessed me for my journey, I believe Rolin and Ocuolo received boons from their deities as well. The elder healer spat on the floor and blasphemed the gods, quite peculiar this one. As our journey began it was rather straightforward we followed the trail leading to the whereabouts of this den and continued in light banter with my new companions. Alas came the time to make camp and we decided to establish watches as is custom when sleeping out in the wilds. I had last watch therefore during my slumber I heard tales the following morn of a gnome fellow known as Billin Fapplestamp that spoke with Rolin and gave some info regarding Zuldraith's lair. During my watch my keen eye did notice two rather fumbly kobolds approaching our camp, they would soon learn the error of their decision. Mursha had felt the smooth rain of blood or the crack of bone since Midgard and she was starved I slightly shoke and arose Rolin from his meditation and we engaged our foolish visitors. Rolin instantly incinerated one with a quick prayer to his deity and ray of flame. The other attempted to flee however Mursha would not have this and oh BOY!!! did she feast coming down that kobold and literally shattering his body to pieces, she was sated. Well this encounter was close enough to the morn and end of our rest, we gave everyone 5mins to gather their wits and belongings, broke camp and headed out.
As we approached the lair of the green dragon, perceptive eyes of Rolin and Oculo were able to find some coins and weapons of superior quality strewn about. I surmised that this random splattering of treasure must of been dropped by Zuldraith as he fled his den and tried to carry as much as his hoard with him as possible. Several other kobold worshippers were encountered and quite easily dispatched. One encounter of mention was where we first spotted Volgan a small imp from the nine hells barking commands to a group of kobold warriors, term used loosely. Alas the involvement of something more sinister has been unveiled. These sniveling minute reptilian creatures are now dealing in souls and sacrifice. They have no longer pledged their loyalty to the might green dragon but are now sacrificing their own kin to demons from the nine hells. It was time to rid our lands of this demonic presence and we engaged in glorious combat once again. Tyrson as always slammed down his shield and yelled at Shops OPEN!!, did I mention he is quite the peculiar one. Oculo quickly netted the Volgan and we attempted to capture this demon. Rolin was becoming quite accustomed to his new blade and quickly began to slice apart our Kobold adversaries. Mursha and I were making short work of them as well as she feasted on the cracking of bones and splattering of blood amongst the battlefield. To our surprise Volgan would not be so easily captured and polymorphed into a spider and quickly skittered out of the net. Oculo in some rather impressive and quick witted thinking took about his fishing pole and quickly hooked Volgan while in spider form. I saw the opportunity and brought down Mursha and splattered the spider formed Volgan into oblivion, he was wrest back to the Nine Hells in a puff of smoke and sulfur.....its really not fair that these demons get to escape back to their Infernal Domain they would make great trophies. We dispatched the remainder of the kobolds and took two as prisoner. They were interrogated/questioned and them set free, not a luxury they would have bestowed upon us if the tables were turned I assure you.
Our journey continued towards the Den of Zuldraith and more evidence of infernal involvement presented itself. Two kobold guards were protecting a prisoner kobold that was clearly going to be the next sacrifice to these new infernal masters. We leapt forward and began to battle these guards, while making short work of one and hammering into the other, a barrage of arcane missiles ripped thru the back of the last guard. Zak the Kobold DragonMage prisoner used the last of his magic on his captors/tormentors. I immediately approached lifted his cage overhead and smashed it to smithereens, nothing disgusts me more than enslavement and caging. We are all born free and deserve at the very least to die that way. Zak was extremely appreciative and we assured him that if he assisted us with information and guided us to the entrance of the den he would be set free. He graciously obliged and took his to the aforementioned location. He warned us of Klobo the Kobold Dragon mage that is attempting to bring Zeffon a barbed devil from the Nine hells into our world through the sacrifice of her own kin. This Klobo disgusts me and Mursha and her shall have words. Zak and the group departed and wished each other well.
The final battle is upon us as we attempt to past the OBVIOUS trap that Zak pointed out to us, the old enfeebled Tyrson is unable to manage this and sets off an alarm throughout the den. Well for what it's worth I much prefer direct combat to the shadows anyways.......which is while I was perplexed by Marhault's boon upon me to favor the shadows on this adventure, but who am I to argue with the will of my god. As we enter the lair of Klobo stands a statue of a barbed demon. The moment we arrive the statue begins to crack and the stone shed away. Klobo shrieks to us "You have arrived too late...the last guards you defeated were the last 2 souls Zeffon required! He lives", with that the barbed demon burst out of his stone encasing and was now apart of our world. Mursha and I would make sure his stay would be brief and riddled with pain before he was sent back to the hells that spawned him. I immediately leapt past and charged straight to Zeffon the glory of single combat with a barbed devils shall be mine. All the fury frenzy and rage of this vile disgusting creature invading my world swelled and surged through my veins and flowed into Mursha. I recklessly leapt forward ignoring the large bony protrusions of this infernal monstrosity and brought Mursha crashing down on its chest with a cacophonous shattering on bone tissue and spines....what a glorious symphony!!! Zeffon retaliated barely piercing my hardened skin and what did Tyrson and Oculo quickly mended. Rolin kept the vile and traitorous Globo fleeing and pelted her with his arrows from his bow. After an onslaught of blows from the foul fiend was nearly his end as Oculo sent him back to the depths of the Nine Hells with an arcane bombardement. Klobo gasped and stared in awe at her master screeching in pain and disappearing in a cloud of smoke and vile smelling sulfur. This will be her final mistake as Rolin took advantage of this situation and placed a well shot narrow through her neck. Zeffon is gone vanished back to the nine hells, Klobo lies dead in the cavern at our feet...however the question remains where is Zuldraith and where he settle next.
