Mox the Magnificent

by Draco Alatar

I arrive at the settlement of GlennHaven and shortly after see a posting titled Recover the Fallen. Apparently 4 adventurers from Glenhaven had ventured out and met their demise providing protection for a nobles wedding from a gang of Goblins. I may be inexperienced but really these might adventurers fell to Goblins, a lowly primitive species that barely posses intelligence. That's neither here nor there the truly captivating reasoning behind my acceptance of this quest is the local town's priest plans on resurrecting these fallen heroes. I agree to embark on this endeavor and assist others from this settlement on the sole condition that I am able to witness and take copious notes while the resurrections are performed. To witness that level of Magic the actual plucking of a life essence from the depths of the afterlife and returning it these corpses would be a true marvel to behold. Other companions of note that ventured with me where Beatrix a half elven woman and a Ranger by the name of Nazir baring bronzed skin, clearly not from this area. Rangers are known to posses some level of magic and he procure sustenance for us by foraging and casting a small incantation on mistletoe leaves and transformed them into Goodberries. These small berries provided sustenance for an entire day, interesting they would allow me to continue my research and writing without wasting precious time on such mundane activities as eating. Beatrix was also a cleric of some trickster god and she possessed magic as well, nothing quite the level of resurrection, however noteworthy nonetheless.

We embark on our journey and make idle chit chat amongst ourselves, ugh the sordid activities one must endure. On our 3rd night out we encountered a rather large Owl and after making a few observations and witnessing our cleric, Beatrix talking to the creature, I noticed something rather peculiar the damn thing was comprehending her as she spoke. What a magnificent creature! Upon further investigation update Journal Entry regarding this Giant Owl. Furthermore on our return the owl had left presumably Beatrix an offering of an animal's carcass. Perhaps we may venture forward and she may befriend this beast and I may examine and study it at length.

Now for wonderous part of our journey we arrive at the scene of the battle and after a preliminary investigation through some stealth and maneuvering. I can clearly surmise that this former estate has been converted into a necromantic masterpiece. Zombie tilling the fields, other tied to posts serving as scarecrows. Still more are seen carrying lumber from the woods to a small processing shed. Two beautiful animated skeletons, one clearly zombified and the other pure skeleton. Several other skeletons of Goblin Archers are stationed on the different roofs around the compound. Lastly a NO Trespassing sign head in place by two severed zombified hands. Upon some further investigation the ruler of the estate and some filthy little goblin wearing a bloodied wedding dress and a scalp of some sort donning bloodied blonde hair...vile little creature, sorry I digress. The filth caused my focus to flitter back to the ruler of the estate. A bunnyfolk, there will be much need for investigation into this species, Necromancer of considerable power. In his possession was a glorious metallic staff of immense power, I can only wonder as to what ancient magics it could produce.

Now reasonably and respectfully he offered to give us 3 of our fallen from Glenhaven in exchange for the simple task of procuring some common woodworking tools from a local village. A most generous and gracious offer, to which I happily obliged. I conversed with the Necromancer some more and we respectfully parted ways. He extended an invitation to return and continue our discussion an invitation I shall be using. I must learn as much as possible from this Necromantic Master as I can, especially where does he keep his tome of spells!
