During combat class, with Caelith and Orren, Captain Vexmere teaches from the sparring ring. She says in her experience two types of knight. Those who use it to take power over others. The other type actually believes in the knightly virtues. Those are valor, honor, loyalty, duty, and compassion. The class is too big, and they need to par the class down. Feels the way to do this fairly is through spars. Calls Braeden and Zyrelle to the mat. While they get to the ring. Zyrelle and Isobel exchange a look. Orren sees that Isabel mouths to Zyrelle remember. Whenever captain vexmere says this is for class removal and steps forward to interrupt but her bodyguard moves to stop here. The princess does not look happy. Orren suspects that Zyrelle has been getting tutoring from Isolde. Zyrelle recounts a story about a time she met Braeden's father and he helped her. His father told her that the sword is what uses to smite evil. The shield is for knight to protect the innocent. His father told her that she had been the shield for the serving girl. She tells Braeden that he needs to be the shield because his father can no longer be. Princess says Isobel needs to tell Braeden what she told her. The princess says that she would not allow the children to pay for the actions of the parent. Captain Vexmere says the virtues are not to be run just when they are easy. Caelith is excited about something he discovered at dinner. Can't talk about it here. Over the years we found a way to sneak into one of the old towers for a secret meeting place. Its a little run down and dangerous but 13 year olds wouldn't think twice about. We look at the sketch and the others think they are nytherean. Cora and Vaelon remember names. One name belongs to a human, one a faerie, and one a dragon. (D) Zorythis the last dragon here, (H) Malagar 3281 the wizard who led a group to stop some cultists who were trying to break the veil binding. Then the true purge started after he stopped them. (F) Lyrielle, Cora saw that the wisewoman is wearing a nytherian amulet. The lake has spirits that rise out of the water and you can see old Nytherian cities below the waters. Caelith translated the names. History class, he spoke with the headmaster and they are suggesting we choose something in history that we would like to study. They were hoping that we could do something about Nytherias Elothar. We could talk to the locals, go to the ruins and do a paper on it. We pick up a pick axe, sledge hammer, lanterns, oil for lanterns, pitons, rope. We approach the old elven woman ask her about the dragon find out that they are almost immortal and it's a she. She has heard about the name Lyrielle. Says she was a faerie royal knight for their royalty a guardian. She would have been alive during the time of Nythris Elothar because Faeries are almost imortal and live longer than dragons. Faeries typically died from violence or when they felt like their lives were complete and they would fade. They were driven by purpose. They can die or enter a dreamless sleep that can last centuries. Two most interesting ruins is the Hollow Keep and the Sunken stair would be the most interesting ruins to check. Another would be the sealed doorway a moss covered archway where glyphs glow on the equinox. No one has opened that either. We go to the door Caelith is raving about do the magic words and use Lyrielle's name and the door opens to reveal an opalescent material. There's a record of the last wars they fought against the Yes'Sireth. Orren manages to lift a fallen panel back up. We can see Fae, Faeries, and Dragons surrounding a beam of light shooting up and a big mass of black figures, which might be the armies of the enemy. Caelith chucks a stone and magical pressure builds and runes appear with a dias lighting up and spectral figure rising up. It looks like a Fae in an ornate armor. It is looking at us and says Vanathir it casts a spell and we can understand it. Show me the backs of the right hands. It sighs because we do not have a mark. The mark would indicate that we have taken the oath. The Oath of the Fatebound. Not that he can administer it. Originally was supposed to guard the knowledge contained down here much of which most of which are gone. Lyrielle gave him something to guard, if we have the mark he would turn it over to us. Other spirits would have the right nobility to administer the oath. He was a soldier asked to stay and guard. The Fatebound were basically knights. But not like one passed through familial lines. These were knights who would gather when needed and when they gave the oath the mark would appear. The Fatebound could hide the mark if they wished. He was told that Fatebound would be coming to take his item. I asked him what the words of the oath might be. He recites the oath. Upon the path of twilight I set my steps. Under vieled stars and the silent watch of time. I swear to seek what is hidden. To unearth truths long buried. To stand where other's have fallen. I am bound not by crown or coin but by duty. My mind is my lantern. My resolve my shield. My hands shall mend where others destroy. My voice shall challenge the silence. My blade shall break the chains of falsehood. The darkness shall not endure so long as one heart shall hold the light. The lost shall not be forgotten so long as once voice speaks their name. The world shall not fall to ruin so long as one soul stands against the tide. This is my oath unyielding as the stars. Enduring as the world. Unbroken until truth is known and the last shadow fades. My hand starts tingling and burning almost like it is falling asleep and I see a symbol on the back of my hand. The spirit says, well maybe I can administer the oath and hands Orren the scroll. The scroll is a copy of the oath. He knows what the scroll is but didn't think he would see it. I can now administer the oath. He opens a secret panel in the wall. And floating there is a crystalline orb floating there and there is a fairie floating in the orb. Caelith remembers that faeries and dragons could make these orbs and objects inside it do not experience the passage of time. Maybe do the paper over Lyrielle because we heard her name from the Old elven lady with the amulet. Orren thinks that maybe this mark could open those ruins that have previously others have been unable to open. We are going through the library looking for references to the Fatebound so we can legitimately ask the headmaster about them without kicking up red flags. We do find a book that mentions the Fatebound. The book is kind of like an anthology book about groups of heroes from Mithras Elizar. The Fatebound were a group of knights that were sworn in at need. They did not have standing knights, they got sworn in when great need.
