3rd Session 6 years at the Academy

by Ser Orren Von Urkseld

Vaileron is convinced that Crazy professor is onto something. Caelith is convinced that the murals weren't damaged by time but by vandalism. Caelith has a moving armor suit that he sears is moving on him. We think Lyra Blackwood might be the one mentioned in my letter. Caelith does not think that Dunmere, modern history professor, and Solmere, the Headmaster. They could have known due to Divination magic. Though it has weird reactions, like going into ancient woods, or hearing whispers in ancient languages, when they try it on Lyra. We've checked all the professors in the magic department. Lady Valcourt, El checks the handwriting of the Ambassador. It's really close. He is a 700 year old elf, he could have other's check. Who had a six month absence around the time of the rebellion, he was also the Ambassador to the Empire. One of the ruins that did light up when I showed my sigil was the moss covered doorway. One night on the winter solstice and 6 columns, each with 12 runes. We took rubbings of the ruins. There way too many combinations and we decided not to mess with it. Princesses Birthday is on the 6th and the next solstice is on the 15th. The Queen's Blade, Zyrelle's nephew, is coming today and rumor is that he is stopping by the Marshall's classes to see how things are going. He isn't a nice person Zyrelle is not happy about it. Anyone who wants to mess with him would be in deep trouble and he's the type to push. The Princess is already the heir. She doesn't become the queen until 18, if the king dies before then the Queen becomes the Regent. We have the headmaster and the enchantment professor. I ask Lyra about the Fatebound and Lyrielle, She was a royal knight for the Faerie kingdom. As far as she knows no Faeries or Dragons were members of the Fatebound Which was probably why they couldn't join as the Oath was magical in nature. The question is if they were made of magic why hasn't there been any new Dragons and Faeries. Malagar apparently cursed the Dragons which is why the only remaining dragon. Did Malagar stop the Dragons or did they stop Malagar. Lyra says if that is true, then Malagar would have to create a ritual which would have changed everyone's memories. Veil binding 7200 years ago. For 4 thousand years we did not do anything to the Faeries and Dragons. Then Malagar suddenly turns against them. Some Faeries did go into Ennui, but not all. Only ways to find out the truth was through a divination, or to talk to someone who was there. The ritual would have to be one time thing. The power levels are too long. If Malagar would have to have a massive amount of power either from the void or a massive sacrifice. Why would you target the dragons and faeries? Xal'Zirath, the undead lord of Yth'Zirath, we do not know how he became undead exactly, but it had to be a massive ritual. There's a possibility that Malagar is still around. If the power comes from the void then the dragons and the faeries would have opposed him. Faeconic Orb was something that required a partnership. A faerie and a dragon had to create it. There is only a few ways to open them once formed. The first way that she knows of to open it is by dragon fire. The second way is something called an aetheric convergence, a fancy way of saying a very specific ritual under very specific conditions. A ritual that the Nytherians knew but that knowledge is lost. There is something called the tears of the last Fae, Lyra does not know if it is literal or some alchemic concoction the Nytherians made. A Nytherian seal breaker could do that. Designed specifically to break through magical wards. The Empire wants one cause they could kill our wards if they took it to the capital. A weapon that Nytherian knights used called a Veil Shatter blade. Similar to the artifact but less powerful. Mage hunter weapon to break through barriers. Final way is song of the forgotten. Could be a poetic description of something or could be literal. She figures out I went into a ruin. She opens a book and starts flipping through. Lyrielle and the Dragon were friends. Her assumption was that Lyrielle and the Dragon made the orb together, why would she put herself in there. Which brings us back to why did Malagar attack the faeries and dragons? Whatever is in there will not age and is protected from all outside influences. If the hypothetical is true then she wanted to hide from Malagar to make sure they weren't be wipe out. Two possibilities, they want us to open the orb so we can know the truth, or so they can kill her. She just realized why the Fatebound are back. The wards are weakening here. Over the past 300 years the Veil binding has also been weakening. She has been working on a theory that the one true god of the imperium may not exist, because they never heard of the god before 1000 years ago. They used to be allies and their religious practices are really dark. The Ambassador may have more information but we need more information. Headmaster says the password would be related to the item inside or something that meant something to the password creator. Most Nytherian runes have more than one way to pass through. On that same night if you manipulate the runes in a certain way a bowl to contain a liquid could potentially open it. We go and ask Dunmere if there was a Nytherian lock with 3 million combinations. What would be the answer. We could find another ruin that had scrolls that had a reference to the password. Elowel takes the rubbings to Caelthorne to see if he can help. He knows the Dragon Zorythis who is called the harbinger or ruin because she used to go on rampages. She's in a mountain range in the dwarven province wrapped by mytsical storms. That is not the only thing interesting there. In that mountain range is a floating keep that floats above the mountains. The keep has a sole resident that hasn't been talked to for centuries. Thalric Emberforge. He's a smith that has been rumored to be able to forge Nytherian weapons. No one knows what his race he is. People have heard his hammer and seen the flames of his forge. There are rumors are that he is immortal or may be a demigod. Dunewood is the enchanting professor. We gather back in the tower to recap. They suggest trying Orren's blood. Caelith received the answer about whether Lyrielle was worth serving. She says something we're doing in the next few hours as a diviner will be interesting. Cora's sister comes running and says 3 cloaked figures snatch Zyrelle and the Princess. They are not in the room. We see a small puddle of blood in her room. We find her sword under the bed and there is blood on it. Under the bed is a glimmer of an amulet. It is an obsidian amulet torn off the neck of the attackers. Cora discovers that her male bodyguard's boots armor and weapons are gone. Orren runs to Driftwood. Caelith sees a glow at the Mossy Archway. We get to the mossy arch the bowl is out and the doorway is open and leads to the darkness. There is a pale blue light is coming out from the cracks of the walls. Vaelion hears mechanisms moving somewhere, he sees statues in alcoves who's heads turn and follow us as we pass. Air feels heavy. We activated our Fatebound sigils. We enter a library and hear a voice that says the bloodline must be severed, only royal blood can power the ritual. 3 cultists are there in masks, one more ornate than the others. 1 adult, 2 teenagers. The adult is embroidered. So the threads converge as foretold. By Zyrelle we see a cracked orb, not a Faeconic orb, but it was something that had something in it but is now empty. Laying on Zyrelle's chest is a scroll. Blood on his hand and a cut on his sleeve. Dawn grabs both scrolls. It says some stuff to her and the swirling mists are glowing. Elowel, binds and unmasks Sylphira Umbra. The ones who betrayed the nobles, and is a house under House Duskbane. The ambassador has a curved knife that is sharp on one side. A ritual book.(Very evil prayer book). The bad guy is the Ambassador, The student is Selwyn Valcairn. I grabbed the cracked orb. Caelith checks out the altar, magic was building up there in opposition to what this place was supposed to be. It is not dissipating. Both students have the curved knives and those amulets. His is cold to the touch. Theirs's are not. Only the royal blood can power the ritual. The threads converge as foretold, the children of first discovery return to witness the first steps of his return. The girl's blood carries the key, which is the final link in a chain forged before the first stones of the academy were laid. The scroll lying on Zyrelle is written in Void speak, we hand over the ritual book and amulets to the headmaster. There is a cult called the black thorn, they work for Yth'Zirath and they have murdered some historians and attack those who explore the runs. We show the headmaster the scroll from inside the mossy gate. Headmaster says we need to keep this to ourselves. It is obvious that it is trying to say that the veil is weakening. We are charged with finding allies and fixing the veils. He say if he was us we should gather allies, and prepare for a journey. There are a few things here he can interpret. Where the dead still reign, one place in the world that is true. He is going to tell us something knows. He knows it the Patriarch of the Vailcairn and Syltharis, Garett Caerthall knew it. Veilcairn was a diviner, he had a vision, shortly after it he came to the head master and resigned. He had been unstable. The two visions he had. He believed somebody in the royal court was plotting to lower the wards and allow the imperium to invade and he thought that person was the queen. Many of the advisors had been replaced by those loyal to the queen. He went home and shortly after the rebellion happened. Neither the princesses mother, nor the king have diseases. They are both cursed. The old queen succumbed, if he dies too early the queen becomes the regent. The king is holding on through sheer willpower. He has had a suspicion for a long time. No one, including Zyrelle, other than one maybe two people knows who Zyrelle's mother is. He has had suspicions for awhile. Zyrelle is an outcast in her own house. She was probably the student most happy to come to Oathwatch. As far as he knows she has never known any kindness or care for their family. He thinks she was born for a reason and he thinks that reason was thwarted. Those born with Fae heritage have resistance to certain types of magic or have certain rituals used on them. Her being born with Fae heritage and it caused problems. His hope was when she graduated she would move and escape her family. What happened tonight may have been an attempt to try again. If true that means the Duskbanes are worse than he ever thought. He's going to protect the princess, but warns that coups happen. Whatever got into Zyrelle sealed within her was designed to weaken her resistance to whatever was planned for her. One other thing we may want to consider is who else we want to swear in. Beware even the fatebound can be corrupted. Caelith and I go to tell our parents after the princesses birthday party. There are rumors of rituals and spells that can intercept them.
