First Entry, Warband 13

This is my first entry in this new journal, and my first day as a member of the Huntsmen's Warband 13. While this is purely coincidence as my last journal had no more space left for entries, the symbolism isn't lost on me. Arianiraz always told me there were omens everywhere. Perhaps this is one of them - A new beginning.
 
It's still difficult to believe Arianiraz is gone. It's barely a year since I saw him last, when he was officially inducted into the Huntsmen organization. I won't get into our history here. I've covered it in my last journal and, to be honest, it still hurts to remember him.
 
This city we're in, Cain, is a battlefield. Other warbands and soldiers of the army are here, fighting a group calling themselves 'Scavs' over an auction of illegal magical artifacts. There is already so much death here - And it's only going to get worse. Winchester has ordered us to hunt down and kill the leaders behind this. No prisoners, no redemption. And I almost want to agree with him - this 'Burned Sinner' is why Arianiraz is gone, but can I let myself fall to such a level? Should I let myself fall?
 
I can't. For Arianiraz, and for Bahumat, I have to stay strong. Everyone deserves a chance for redemption. At least Baird is here too - A familiar face helps, especially among this group of unfamiliar people. There's three others in total: A sorcerer named Paragus, a rogueish woman named Temperance, and a dragon - Azzan.
 
The dragon wasn't here tonight - From my understanding, he's out taking the fight to the scavs, and the perspective given to me by Aurelia tells me this is his own method of grieving for the loss of his comrades. Still, I'm wary - This amount of violence is sure to only make my task - No. Our task harder. I can only hope he can compose himself, and soon.
 
The other two, I have the impression they do not like myself or Baird - Can I blame them? They're also suffering from the loss of Arianiraz and Vicente, and here we are to replace them. Can I replace Arianiraz? Can Baird replace Vicente? Can anyone?
 
I should rest now. Aurelia's uneasy - Never a good sign, and we have to be awake early tomorrow morning. Yesterday, I was an emissary of peace. Tomorrow… I will be a soldier of war.
