Journal Cont.: I gathered the navigational tools from the captains quarters and started to familiarize myself with them should I need to go on my own. Curiously, it lacked a compass but had a very nice eyeglass. I also spent some downtime to center myself and analyze the situation better. I had taken residence within the crows nest as it offers the best defensive position as well as an escape to the water. I was disturbed to find later that a few of the original crew had been detained and... tortured by the human female. She seemed to be rather rude from the little I could hear from the crows nest between screams from another female human and a bullywug. A shortfolk and a birdfolk entered the location and more violence was heard. I don't agree with the methods especially if they surrendered.
-The Loxodon, Carame called a meeting for the newly emancipated crew he wanted acquaintance with everyone. He told his story being from Lightning Pointe on the island of Cresaro, the place we were headed.
-The shortfolk was a male halfling named "Guffy" he is some sort of bombardier with guns and a steampunk esq attire. I would wonder if they are from the Izzet.
-Their was a Tabaxi female named "Snowball" I am unsure if it is a given name or more than likely a nickname. She had considerable strength and was standoffish.
-"Kar' El" was a male Aarakocra the birdfolk I had seen before. He was a fist mate on some other ship before capture, but is suffering from some memory problems.
-"AN-Core" was the "warforged" as they called the robotic race. This one was built in a fishing village in Ingland and is an adept fisherman itself. It seemed to be filled with water and showed a jellyfish esq creature to be swimming in it's "head". He would mention that it was his soul as some sort of fey tethering. I will have to examine it closer to determine if it is biological in nature. It also had various magics As I found it was able to polymorph itself later.
-"K'dren" was the female human I saw earlier she is some sort of bard. Something about her is off and it gives me a bad feeling.
The story that they got out of the captives was that they were after her specifically and every other here was circumstance. A being named Dysrochktu commissioned the ship to hunt specific targets, he is some creature that has a mucus layer and required water fairly often. Kar' El found that this boat was stolen from the Silverport Trading Co. The conversation turned to what to do with the captives. Kar' El and K'dren were insistent on their death and the others were neutral on the subject. I do not care for the individuals in particular, but torture is unacceptable to me. Assisting them could help lend me insight to the others' allegiances and reactions too. There was more knowledge to be learned from their escape than their deaths. I slipped away from the conversation and started to move pieces into place for later.
That evening the Loxodon made a rather tasty meal of fish and AN-Core used it's magics to create a block of ice to cool our drinks. From my observations, no one seemed to be in a particular alliance but K'dren still puts me at unease. I interact little and quickly retreated back to the crow's nest for the night.
A few hours after dark I started my rescue. I remove the chains binding the human and bullywug and burst the manacles. I then assisted the female human into the barrel I had moved earlier. The lifeboat would have had to be winched out the hold and I am still unfamiliar with the abilities of the others. She handed me a note and I gave them a rough direction to the island. I maneuvered the barrel and dropped it into he ocean after giving a few parting words of "owe Simic your favor" and to "learn from experience". The bullywug acted as a motor for the make shift boat. I dropped the broken manacles overboard and went to return the chains to were they looked to be from. I had seen the warforged on deck earlier and decided to retreat back into my perch quietly to read the note. It had coordinated for what I assume will be the drop point meant for tossing the captives turned crew into the ocean and a warning of don't touch the water off shore.
In the morn I started with a clacking. the mechanical oars were rowing due to unfavorable winds. K'dren alerted us to the prisoners' escape. I guess that there was a spare scroll of teleportation on the ship and they checked that first before K'dren used some magic. With it she was able to find and shout out that an unaccounted passenger was on board. When I looked over to see a small trail of cloud come down to a small fey creature with clipped wings casting a spell. The others convinced it to assist in the search for the escaped prisoners. I feigned looking for them via spyglass while observing the others. AN-Core used some sort of magics to a dolphin looking creature and looped the ship. Kar' El used the cloud mount summoned by the fey to circle the ship very fast with him. After turning up nothing they spent a considerable amount of time searching and figured out that they broke the manacles and used a barrel as a getaway. The few creature departed on it's cloud afterward. K'dren still gives me a bad feeling. After a few hours we approached Cresaro.
