What a Day

by Gen

Well, apparently that big score wound up being an even bigger pain in the ass. Not only did that money not wind up going to the sick and the children in the slums, but one of the people living there (that asshole Maxwell) decided to sucker-punch me in the sewers and steal it away. Yes, I'm aware of the irony of that, but it wasn't like I was planning on KEEPING the money I stole. It was supposed to go to those who actually need it!

Anyways, the reason we were even in that sewer was because of Gremory, the owner of the tavern that I initially stole from. Maxwell had me wearing some invisibility mask, but stripped the magic away when we stumbled upon Gremory in the town center and I tried to escape. Surprisingly, Gremory didn't blast me to ash when he found out I was the thief. Instead, he had us going to some wine cellar he had in the sewers so we could talk things over. Because when I think of places to calmly talk things over, sewers ALWAYS come to mind.

I swear to the gods this person is crazy, he even blew up the sewers just for the hell of it as we were leaving. Neither of us died at least, but it was definitely too close for comfort. And then we met this guy from the church in the north who gave the first decent news all day: we have a chance to get that money back. Or at the very least, I have the chance to get even with Maxwell (who apparently was part of some creepy cult involving something called Nova. Admittedly I was a bit drunk when we talked about that part).

The priest guy managed to get us a cart and horses, but Gremory insisted on talking with me as we travel. I managed to avoid the brunt of the conversation at least. And after three hours of being trapped with him, we came across a group who'd apparently just escaped from a burning jungle. Apparently arson is everywhere today. Mr. priest man offered to take them all with us to Winterspell, which meant an extremely crowded cart full of cat... dog.... people. And a gnome.

Gods give me strength, because I'm going to need it.
