Ayamo’s Journal Entry log - #37-38

Well, I have to admit I may have done something completely humiliating to myself. One that I think that no amount of explanation could ever undo. I mean I’m pretty much debating whether or not I should deny the whole thing and not put it in this journal at all.

However, it also ended up being really healing for me because as I write this down, I could feel a part of myself feeling good for just letting go of my insecurities for just once in my life (Maybe Rash had a point after all).

Well I suppose some context is in order, as I was sitting and having dinner with the Dwarves in their Fort. I was “talking” with Lodgrat, or to the best of my abilities trying to convey what I was saying with sign language. I tried asking him if it was all right if I can convey what we were experiencing to a friend, but as soon as I saw the look on his face told me that he had no idea what I was saying so I figured the best way to do it was to show it.

So, I pulled out of my bag of holding, the mirror that Rash gave me and after calling into it for a few minutes I finally got him to answer. Rash seemed to be doing good for himself he told me that he was still working in Atlas’s shop helping out and waiting for his wedding day (Which come to think of it I kind of forgot when that would happen). But as I told him what we’ve been up to, the best reaction I got was when I showed the mirror or rather Rash’s face right in front of Lodgrat, which he proceeded to freak out (Ha, that made my morning).

Only later to be taken away from me with force. After Rash wished us luck, and I put the mirror away I figured it be fair if I let the dwarves in on some of my abilities that I had. As Yokgrum joined the conversation I showed off the elemental ring that I got and told them that it can make me go through solid stone.

What I failed to realize at the time was that, I misinterpreted what this ring could do. It DOES NOT make me go through solid matter; it just helps me go through difficult terrain infused by earth (Which being trained as a Ranger was something that I could naturally). Also, the only spell I can cast from it is dominate monster on an earth elementals. All the good shit (Acid resistance, moving through stone, all the other spells) are locked for now and can only be unlocked if I kill an earth elemental. So, in other words THIS FUCKING THING IS 100% USELESS!! (Fuck N’ Hell).

So what proceeded to happen next was as follows. I explain an ability I had no idea I can do, The Dwarves look at me confused as to what I’m saying, and I proceeded to show off said ability that I cannot do by jumping up on the table running headlong towards a Stonewall and proceeding to jump off said table towards the wall only to have my face smash right into it like a bug on a window.

So yeah, not only did I totally make an ass out of myself in front of our hosts because of some diluted fantasy brought up by that ring (Which I am totally going to scrap) but The Goddamn Skeleton also had to see it too (Oh, well it’s not like his opinion of me can get less than it already is).

While I was having that done to me the rest of the crew was having their little funs. Kitt went off to have A cultural exchange with the ring mage. Fleur finally woke up and was now getting acquainted with everyone (Finally). And Aster kept looking at that ring Again (Is he gonna be Ok?). Of course, we had a little group meeting when everyone came back to decide what we should talk about when their King called us, and to basically just sum it up we decided to be honest and tell them the real reason why we were down here.

Later on, Rammilyn came by and took our crew to go meet their King and Queen. They took us to their Royal chamber, where the King and Queen of the Dwarves were on their Thrones, surrounded by what appeared to be pretty much all male dwarves but as it turns out a good majority of them were female (Wow pulled the wool over my eyes there, this is getting extremely hard to tell their genders apart).

Their King Borrick by name was dressed up in golden full plate armor and had a nice smooth Auburn colored beard. Pretty much asked for a designated speaker to come forward and explain ourselves, Horatio decided to be the one to take point on this since he quickly showed us that he could cast the tongues spell. Although I couldn’t understand what the Dwarves were saying we could understand what our skeleton man was saying, he basically said what we agreed upon.

He told them our group name, told them about Anaharea and what she was after. When we told him about the Dragon Egg in particular their whole attitude changed, as if thinking if there was no way that we could’ve known about it (Surprise Surprise). But after Horatio explained it some more and after the King told him to come forward and swear it I think he might’ve subjected him to a truth spell because afterwards he seemed to trust us a lot more and told us that we would be welcome with in the city, also that we invited to join him for a feast later on tonight to Welcome us. Also, I only just later found out right after our meeting that all the Dwarfs can speak Draconic as well (NOW YOU TELL ME!!!).

Well, while each of us went our separate ways after the meeting probably to explore or meet people. I searched around the area and used my Detect Magic Spell, to check the layout of their city in general to see if they had any magical craft in their architecture. And I found quite a few surprises, their stonework had minor Transmutation and Abjuration Magic worked in as well as on some of the doors and they also had a fountain that had some sort of healing magic to it (Must remember that for later).

After we all regrouped and it was time to join the Dwarves for dinner, they gave our party a sort of earring for them to understand their language better. I of course didn’t need it because I spoke their second language so I decided I may wanted to show off a bit. I sat with the Queen Dorilka, A huge lady decked out in jewelry, with some sort of animal coat around her neck and she was constantly smoking out of some sort of pipe.

I talked with her about a few things that I heard from about the Dwarves growing up, and she told me a few things about their smith crafting, ring magic and even I overheard their legend on how they may have survived the catalyst. According to Kitt, The God that they worship and who’s statue I saw near the fountain Cavadess, A big purple dragon sacrificed herself to shield the Dwarves and move them to the new location while entrusting her unborn offspring to them.

Also, I forgot to mention but because we showed such interest of said Egg the King offered to invite us to their mass, tomorrow morning where the Egg itself would be on display.

Of course, it wasn’t just about us asking questions I may have indulged on our adventures and I told them a few stories (I don’t think they know what a Giant Pumpkin is), and I kind of regretted telling them about my mishap earlier today. But I also got a few other bits of information as well such as A hint between their race and the Duergar, which over the years may have escalated into a feud. But they also told me that the employ a few elementals to help them at their forges and said that I was free to look into it tomorrow.

Although I have to admit that the Queen May have gotten quite a bit more of a laugh out of me when I told her about my wall smashing, calling me dumb as absolute shit. Dumb as absolute Shit am I? Well maybe before I leave I’ll take one of your Elementals with me as little souvenir, and maybe I can put the stupid ring to its REAL use after all.

The next morning, we woke up, and joined the dwarves at their temple. I decided to keep my snappy comments about religion and what not to myself this time, all about growing up to be a better person, plus I knew Horatio wouldn’t shut up about it if it came to it.

Their whole temple was pretty much a run down version of what may have been a chapel or ancient temple at some point, the seats were pretty much the same as what you would see in a regular church but in the center was a pit that showed the bottom of the island dropping off into the sky and eventually the dark ocean far far below. And suspended above that pit on a tiny little island of itself was a huge domed sphere purple in color almost like a giant amethyst about the size of Emma and it shined with an ethereal type of glow which kind of reminded me of the Leystone I use to have, I guess I didn’t need anybody to tell me that that was the Dragon Egg A lot bigger than I thought (I wondering if you could fit it my bag of holding?).

As the Mass begin, I noticed that their head priest also had a lay stone embedded in his staff (Lucky). And throughout the first half an hour or so it was pretty much like any ordinary mass, telling the history of their God, why we have all gathered here etc etc. But towards the end I have to admit the mass itself took a dark turn.

Towards the end of the mass, At the other side of the room, two Duergar chained up we’re being let in by these huge golems that the Dwarves used, and were brought to the center right before the pit it would appear that they were going to offer these two up as a sacrifice towards their God.

Wow, and here I thought the Dwarves were actually decent people. They were courteous, kind, generous hosts and seemed somewhat pleasant at first. But now that I see them, sacrificing others in the name of their God believing themselves to be the righteous ones, make me think that they are just as diluted and misguided as the shepherds are (What a shame).

Although the reaction that I saw from Horatio, was actually quite amusing. I mean, it must’ve been a real shocker for him, one minute here he was learning about a foreign God from a race of people that seemed courteous at first and the next he is struck with horror at what they’re doing. I could’ve “drove the nail in” at that point but before I could decide whether or not I should he decided to stand up and protest that this was not a good action. Aster also voiced his opinion as well saying that as fellow brothers of the Underdark and what not. And as the Dwarves we’re starting to get a bit rowdy, and tensions were rising in a move out of nowhere Kitt kills both Of the Duergar with a powerful magic missile attack blowing their heads off and letting their lifeless bodies fall through the hole.

Well, Holy Shit. I don’t think any of us saw that coming (again). First, The Orcs on the boat and now this I Think I’m starting to get a new opinion of our cat-man. It seems he’s more logical thinker than what I gave them credit for. Of course, after that display the Dwarves calmed down and the mass continued, but Horatio stormed off defiantly pissed off at Kitt of all people.

Once the mass was over, I took Fleur with me to go check out the forges, and to see if we can find Tostada a friend. They are forge master Jagonleir introduced a few of the elementals, and I even spoke to Tostada bit his voice kind of sounds like the hissing and crackling I thought you might hear at a fireplace (Kinda cute in a way).

But while we were there, I used my detect magic to see if they were any magical weapons that we could use and two of them caught my attention. A magical dagger that can imbue invisibility (GIMME) and also a magical shield that can repel any arrow attacks. I pointed the shield out to Fleur while I took the knife, and we ended up with some new weapons not to mention I also traded some of the loot we got as well on the way down here.

Survival Sold Loot and New Weapons
• All the Be-hir Loot 670 total (134 Each)
• Dark Assassin +1 Dagger (Can use Invisibility, Don’t mind if I do ^^)
• Arrow Catching Shield (A +1 Shield, I think this one speaks for itself)

After a couple of hours when we met up as a group and discussed what we were going to do. I decided to check up on how the groups I was tracking with my primeval awareness and despite the snappy comments from Horatio (Did he Forget that I’m the Ranger and that I can use this up to 5 miles) I was able to sense two groups of Humanoids other than the dwarfs and us One directly above us and another near the entrance of the gates of about Twentyish or so in each group.

Fearing that the Dwarves might about to be attacked we quickly went to notify the King, running into Rammilyn along the way. But before we could move any further a huge explosion took place and soon we were beset by Orcs storming in and attacking civilians.

Our Group, joined the Fight right away and at first we seemed to draw the Orcs attention. However, they had mages on their side and each time one was down their bodies would explore to maximize on damage. Even, thought we were killing these guys it felt like for each on we took out another took their place (Thinking back on it now I should have used the Ring to make a stone way or something, but I was too panicked at the time and it never came to mind, Damn it). Plus we were all scrambled and spread out during the fight Fluer was handling 3 Orcs on the left plaza near the Fountain, Kitt was Handling the Right size transformed into a Giant Ape, Horatio was standing guard over Rammilyn who went down from an attack while I handling the Orcs from the South and meanwhile Aster ran off saying something that I must have missed. But thinking back on it now it was SOOO obvious that he went to check up on the egg (Good thinking on his part).

(Of Course, There was more of what happened during the attack, and I shall go into detail about that but I shall save that for another part I’m running out of room on this page, and I’m still recovering from what that bitch threw at me, shit I need more Wine.)
