Ayamo’s Journal Entry log - #39-40

Entry log - #39
Date – 2E0
 
It’s amazing how much one can recover after a good night’s rest. I’m now up to continuing my recap on what happened during that battle. Where I last left off I believe we just been bombarded by Orcs coming out from the roof of the cavern, which was where I sensed them earlier apparently they use some sort of explosive material to blast away the section dividing in between where they were at and city, and now they were accompanied by what appeared to be human Mages and coming out from all different corners.
 
During this assault our group was located near the fountain which based off the layout had four sections each pointing North, South, East and West. Our group was mostly located near the south and center, when the orcs started forming in Fleur tried to hold off the orcs from the West side, Kitt polymorphed into a giant ape and try to put a hold on some of the orcs located in the center near the fountain. Horatio was tending to Rammilyn, who became unconscious during the fight and refused to leave her side while I was dealing with the orcs in the south each of my arrows were fired with deadly Precision (probably because I was putting a lot more force behind them than usual). As for Aster he quickly ran to the East side which was where the temple was located, At first I didn’t piece it together where he was going but after about a good 30 seconds or so of fighting Kitt shouted out that the egg might be in danger and it hit me all of a sudden. At first I was hesitant on leaving the battle field here but upon hearing that reinforcements were on their way I decided that it was safe so I ran as fast as I could to the temple hoping that the others would catch up soon as they can while hoping Aster was still alive.
 
Even with my speed I admit that I probably made it faster than anybody could’ve but the amount of time it took felt to me like an hour instead of seconds. But when I made it to the temple and I saw that not only Aster was there but Kitt and Fleur too (Probably they made it due to another spell from Kitt, I wonder how many he has), they we’re in the middle of fighting two mages an Elf and a Firbolg by the looks of it and Anahera herself as was there as well in all her splendor but looking pretty hurt from what I can see (I guess even she bit off more than she can chew hehe).
 
Realizing that I had the element of surprise since no one noticed me I used my newly bought knife to go invisible, and getting into a good position. From what I can tell the fight look to be pretty even that was until Fleur knocked Anahera off the edge where she has some sort of magic to cast Featherfall where she floated to the island where the egg was held. Seeing that things were not going to end too well unless I did something, I broke my stealth to try and kill the elf mage but she didn’t go down for my surprise. And speaking of surprise, when it looks like Anahera was about to lay a hand on the egg Aster misty stepped in front of her and in a bazaar twist of fate attempted to destroy the egg by attacking it with his sword. (O.O)!!!!!!
 
Well, logically it would make sense so I wouldn’t blame him for that but Even I have to admit in the moment I think everybody including Anahera herself, was under the impression that this guy had lost his mind. I think Kitt took the shock worst of all because after that little display he became full defensive and cast some sort of defensive barrier around the egg and put all of his concentration into maintaining it and casting nothing else. Also, I saw something quite interesting Anahera’s composure was now quickly gone she looks like she wanted to murder Aster with extreme prejudice (Ah, so Little Miss perfect does have an angry side to her after all).
 
Thinking that Kitt was totally defenseless now I rushed in to the elf mage to try and silence her with my dagger, while Fleur and Aster we’re busy. But before I could go through with the attack, Kitt called out in alarm warning me that if I silenced her the radius of the spell would encompass him as well ending his spell... (Which I might’ve questioned if I had breathing room to think, it’s a Silence Spell not an Anti-Magic field I don’t think it’ll affect magic that you’re already concentrating on). However, again in the heat of the moment I listened to him and only attacked her while not activating it’s magic. When she noticed the Silent dagger I held she responded in Draconic that she was glad it was getting its use, then she told Anahera but she was going to use something and that she will see her in the afterlife. She pulled out some sort of necklace and attempted to blow herself up with us, but unfortunately for her I’m quite well adapted and it wasn’t enough to kill me although I can’t say the same for her (Sorry sweetheart it’s gonna take A LOT more than that to put me Down).
 
When Fleur along with Aster’s help dispatched the other mage, that was when I noticed that Horatio had finally made it on the scene (Took you long enough). It was also at this moment that Anahera either fearing for her life or was just done playing decided to use A devastating attack on all of us, from what I understood she harnessed the power of the Leylines because I recognized the type of magic she was using. But when it hit us it felt like every nerve in my body was screaming it was like being burned, electrocuted, frozen, and ripped apart all at once, It was Pure Raw Magic that hit us, and it took down all of the boys except for Horatio who is out of range. As for me, I partly don’t remember much, was developing tunnel vision, my lungs felt constricted so I couldn’t breathe, and every muscle in my body clamped down and refused to move but by some miracle or force of will power I was barely standing up despite all odds but I was left helpless while I was in this state (It would seem that I have completely underestimated her power, I thought that she was just some rich lady ordering people about and yes I knew she casted magic to some extent but had I known she could cast magic this intense I would’ve never gone near her) (Now I hate being underestimated but it does have its merits sometimes, however underestimating is far worse especially when it happens to you to think that I Ayamo would be humbled.... Goddamn all).
 
But where it seemed all hope was lost for us so too a silver lining of Hope also Shown. As if his arrival was predestined Horacio used his staff and brought the rest of the party back up, and distracted Anahera Buy warning her that Isselle would not forgive such actions and to leave (While showing his freaky skull face). But I guess being the only one up before the rest of the party, I managed to overhear what she said back, she said that she had long made her peace with the moon matron and that she would restore her lost daughter. But while she was distracted Kitt managed to put One last barrier around the egg, which Anahera Must’ve failed to notice because she pulled out some kind of item and while putting the hand on the egg in the next moment, she teleported away however the egg was still there in the room with us.
 
It would seem that thanks to Kitt’s quick spell casting that he had barely managed to save the egg from being taken at the last moment (Oh, I would’ve payed every single platinum and gold piece that I have right now to have seen the expression on her face when she realizes that she doesn’t have the egg with her, Oh that would’ve been so delicious hehehehe). It would seem that we had barely managed to fend her off, and successfully kept the egg from being stolen, A bit of a handed down victory if you ask me but a victory nonetheless (I’ll fucking take it at this point).
 
After that the rest of the fighting pretty much wrapped up and we found out later that it wasn’t just the orcs attacking from where we were from before but the duergar also attacked as well from the front entrance (So, they were the other group that I sensed). While we were left to guarding the egg, Kitt decided to use this opportunity to get close to it and examine it somewhat. While he was doing that he sang a particular song, it was in Draconic but not the modern day type it sounded more older kind a like what Anahera and her group are using, but nonetheless I memorized what he said here’s what he sang:

Kitt later asked me a bunch of questions concerning the song after that, which continued for a bit until the King and his guards made it back to where we were. Upon hearing that we helped defend the egg and managed to Forced Anahera to retreat he Congratulated us, and that we were in his depth. Of course, we explained how things happened on our end before the battle broke out, and we found out that the way Anahera came in she killed the dwarf priest to get to the temple, and we also explained how the fight went for us (with the slight edit that Anahera was the one who hit the egg, which I don’t think the dwarfs would be none too happy to learn The truth of that).
 
But when I was said and done at that moment and Yokgrum helped secure the egg using some kind of earth magic to cause rocks to float around it, The king dismissed us to go rest and that tomorrow is funeral would be held for the fallen. In passing I told him that we would need to discuss what to do going forward, I have several options in mind one of which they would probably not like but I need to say to them nonetheless.
 
 
But before I retired however, One last thing I did was that I visited Horatio. One, was to thank him for his timely arrival since he did help us when he counted and another was to discuss what Anahera was talking about since it concerned about the lost daughter of Isselle. He thanked me and begun to explain that based off the notes and books that he gave me The lost daughter was referring to the missing moon that was supposedly lost long ago, based off the texts that used to be three moons in the sky not just two (What did she mean when she wanted to restore it, does Horatio no more than what he’s letting on and what does Isselle Play in all this). It was then that I asked his help to see if he would help me make a prayer to Isselle which he excepted but alas it would seem that our prayer fell on deaf ears, Isselle did not respond to us that day. Even I could tell that this was somewhat upsetting to Horatio I guess he’s not used to prayers being unanswered. But I thanked him nonetheless for trying and as I turned to go I said it was all right for him to call me Aya, truth be told It was getting kind of awkward at that point to be in our constant sass-act (I’ll have to think more about this later).

The next morning when I woke up much refreshed (Seriously though how do we keep recovering from these injuries so quickly?). Kitt comes to see me early in the morning and wants to check the teleportation scroll that I have, at first I was a bit reluctant because I wasn’t sure what he was going to do but once he explained that he Could copy The location of the teleportation scroll I handed it over to him (It’ll help us out in the long run). Once that was done and it was time to met up with everybody, Me and Fluer decided to pass the time by helping out with the front door at the fort, when I asked him why he wanted my help he said that I was particularly strong and known for lifting heavy things (Ok you get a cool point for that).
 
Once that was over with, we went to the temple to see the funeral, in the end only four dwarfs were killed during the siege. Which strategically speaking was pretty good overall the dwarfs suffered very little casualties but at the same time it could also be argued that they have suffered a heavy blow as well, according to the king for a race that was constantly in isolation and with not a very large population four people was quite a lot for them. Once the funeral rights were said and the bodies offered the same way as they were previously, we were introduced to the brand-new priestess where Horatio offered her some advice and Kitt asked her some questions concerning the songs heard from the egg. When it eventually got to the song that we heard yesterday, I was called over and asked to recite it but I decided to perform it there and then (Which I have to admit I think I’m pretty good at singing, maybe not enough to trump Rash but I think I can pull out a good tune every now and then ^^). When the dwarfs heard my song many of them were surprised because this was new to them, and it was different from all the songs they had heard until now. When Kitt pointed out that it was with the telepathy crystals he found, they were even more ecstatic on where we got it because according to them the only crystals they had were near the egg and that was holy ground to them so they couldn’t extract it. But when we told them that we found a bunch of them on the way down here they seemed more than ecstatic on procuring some for themselves.
 
But after that was done it was time for us to speak with the King, On what to do going forward. I presented three plans but they could do, the first plan was to hunker down and secure everything and eventually wait it all out. We debated that although this might be good for the short term in the long term it might be bad, Anahera has a way of getting people to do what she wants and with the dwarves limited resources and numbers I feel that a fight of attrition would only be bad in the long run when she has the access of the surface world at her disposal while the dwarves do not. Of course, we went back-and-forth on whether or not She would like to keep this a Secret but it was all speculation in the end.
 
My Second option was to see if whether or not the Dwarves would be willing to move the egg to a different location so that pressure would be taken off them. Even by the sheer groans I could tell that Horatio and Fleur thought that this was going to be a bad idea, and no doubt the second I mentioned that the King looked livid as if I suggested to sacrifice and eat his firstborn child. On the one hand I can see why everybody would not be on board with this idea for several reasons; One it puts a target on our backs, Two the Dwarves feel that it is their sacred duty to protect the egg at all costs no matter what and Three I’m getting the nagging suspicion that they are thinking that I’m only suggesting this for selfish reasons.
 
Wow so this is the reaction I get huh, so much for team support. I tried arguing against these, my first reason was that although it may put a target on us I feel that we could survive any goons thrown our way, I can understand that that attack from Anahera May have shook some of my companions resolves a bit but I thought we were better than that. My second reason was that the dwarves religious take on this egg was a bit self-destructive, and that if they protected this thing as they said they would they would literally kill themselves to protect it down to the last person which based on the reaction I’ve seen from the King and his refusal to acknowledge it confirms my suspicions. Thirdly, although I do admit that the idea of having a dragon egg in our party would be pretty cool (Might even make an awesome birthday present for Emma) I was actually thinking about something else other than myself for once, but knowing that No one will believe me even if I tell them I figured why bother to explain it (Thanks for Fucking Nothing DipShits!).
 
But before the conversation could get too out of control, Kitt comes to my rescue again and voices in my third opinion which in a nutshell was having the Dwarfs coming out of their isolation and requesting aid from the surface. And although it was a bit risky and we discussed the pros and cons, in the end the King agreed that this was an acceptable medium to pursue, he agreed that the time of the dwarves staying in isolation is probably at an end and that it is time for change.
 
Of course, they decided to take things slow at first and we were asked if there were certain individuals that we could introduce them to that we’re trustworthy. We suggested introducing them to our employer, The arch mage Asgar And it was agreed that’s the next day we would teleport to his tower to discuss things with him.
 
Oh, and we also got a reward from the King he presented us with the Spoils from Anahera’s goons and gave them to us to choose from.

Yep a Belt of Dwarvenkind, the King said that this one was a gift from him and only given to the most trusted of companies since it was a long-time treasure of the Dwarfs. We decided that Fleur would best be the one to wear it (I for one don’t want a damn beard and I doubt the King would like the idea of me having it since he probably hates my guts now, not that I care).
 
But Later on that day as a way to commemorate the battle, and wash the irritation from out of my mouth. I decided to pour my coin and buy a new item to help me in my quest.

• A fully compatible built my size one of a kind Adamantium shield!!!
 
And finally, what would the day be if it didn’t end with a few unexpected things. Like for instance having Kitt come to my room again and explain that the elemental ring that I had wouldn’t even work unless I actually killed an elemental first, he wanted to see if he could copy the spells first so he requested to take the ring. I had to admit at that point I pretty much threw the damn thing away, it was the most useless convoluted piece of shit I have ever picked up in all my life what ass hat made this in the first place I would like to know because if I do meet them one day I was personally going to shoot them UP THE ASS!!! But Kitt still in his chipper mood was more than happy to come down and talk about killing an elemental (Sigh, for some reason I can’t get mad at this guy he’s like an adorable little kitty that needs scratches and constantly whines at you if you don’t give it to him).
 
Immediately afterwards, Aster of all people comes to me and wants to check something in my bag. Turns out he was looking for the void orb, which I told him Kitt has who seemed to up and vanished right at that moment (Ah ha! He ran the hell away). Aster decided that he would later talk to him about it asked if I wanted to have a drink with him and Horatio and hopefully defuse some of the tension between us. Which I didn’t have anything to do with the time and not one to pass up a good drink I went along with him, and we both pulled Horatio out of his room basically to have a tough guy celebration of a battle well done kind of thing (or some shit like that). During which I tried to get him drunk by submerging him and alcohol and trying to charge it with magic, he said it tingled abit (Must ask Kitt for assistance on this later).
