Death before Dishonour.

by Tanozall

We have discussed the stone and Buka feels that the Gods have gifted him it to aid in the search of the promised land. I do not know about these things, I know only how to honour Daestrus and the Navali. We decide that this camp will be a great addition to the tribe but we need to make sure that it stays in our possession. The group of hunters will return at some point, they must be dealt with.

The group is divided. 3 of us want to try and convince them to join us and I want to kill them all...I guess they win this time. Buka and the others start preparing for the hunters return and I put some of the fallen on the spikes at the front entrance - this should put the fear of Daestrus into them!

Syr'Cap wants to challenge the hunters leader to combat for the right to rule. This is the Navali way. The rest of us are to wait across the river. It is boring but I have faith that Syr'Cap will destroy this tribal chief.

We are fools! They did what we did and we didn't even think about it! They came from the cliffs, I saw a couple heads poking up from a bush, I'll teach these sneaky bastards a lesson and threw a stick of fire at them. Hearing the screams brought smile to my face.

We were surrounded. Too many to count. Bows and arrows, spears and axe's. This does not look good. Somehow we managed to make some of them run away. Saying we are Navali always helps with this! Syr offers the choice of single combat and the chief accepts. Syr promises that we will leave them alone if he is beaten. Well, that's his word NOT mine! and if he dies his word dies with him.

The chief whispered something to one of his men before he came down. What did he say? I will never know but it could not be anything good. The others go closer to the river to watch the fight. I stay behind to watch the Whisper Man on the cliff. He has a tight grip of his spear. Whoever wins this fight the others wouldn't have to fight, so why grip his weapon so tightly? maybe he is of the same mind as me. He is ready to fight should this go bad! Good! I haven't spilt blood in a while!

Syr'Cap falls. He has said before he has no faith in the Gods and they have shown their wrath. The cliff tribals are cheering with joy, Buka and Dego rush to cross the river, they must be wanting vengeance for Syr! I AM READY!!

WHAT A FIGHT!! Syr is fine, my fathers sun hands healed him. Daestrus was with me, I could fell him guide my arm. The arrows and spears fell useless at my feet, they came charging down the cliff and each one died to a single swing of my axe. Then a blonde lad came at me. He broke my black axe and managed to hit me with his spear a couple times.

We gather the 5 survivors into the middle of camp and give them the Navalim (the choice - join us or die). One idiot says no, so I cut off his head after Buka gave me the nod. Blondie tries to punch me. This one has spirit but the woman clams him down and the rest agree to join us. Time to head home, or so I thought. Buka says we need to go north to the old lakes. We argue a bit but in the end decide to follow Buka, if he says his quest isn't finished then it isn't finished.

Nothing. Nothing by the lakes apart from some small camps, I will remember them. They can be given the Navalim later but for now we head home!

Zando. MIghty Chieftain of the Navali. Son of the God Storvo. Beaten. Beaten by the Sheep Hearders and forced to flee. He was given a vision from the Gods and failed! A coward and a failure! We return triumphant while our Chieftain lies on the floor an inch from death. His failure and cowardice will echo across the plains. The name Navali will not hold the same strength it once did. He has brought dishonour on us all.

What is wrong with Buka!! I agree Zando should not be chief but to try and kill him like this, already weak and lying down like a child! I see red and strike him down. It is not the Navali way to kill in the shadows. He has been driven mad by that damned stone! To put an end to it i swallow the thing. It can not turn the mind of my friend if it is in my gut.

It seems to have worked. Buka was tied up and after a short talk he agrees that he went too far. The stone must be cursed if it has made him forget our ways. I only hope it is not too late for him.
Now Syr and my father have lost their minds!! They have come out of Zando's yurt. Syr'Caps hammer covered in blood. It doesn't take a Dwarf to put 2 and 2 together to get 5. He has killed Zando in cold blood. Dego, father, why you killed the Bone Man is beyond me. You are a spiritual man, you and mother taught me everything I know about the Gods, killing and honour. You must have a good reason for this. I hope you can explain it to me.

I have cut Buka's bonds. Whatever happens next will be interesting to say the least. The Chieftan is dead. The wise Bone Man is dead. They suffered a dishonourable death. The reasons had better be good, for the tribe will not smile upon this. Daestrus, I pray that you keep us alive long enough to shed more blood, to end more lives in your name!
