Roadside Dreaming

by Issac Kyr'Nodel

As someone with such an active mind, it may surprise you to know I very rarely dream, or at least remember them. Tonight was different. Today was also different. I took a big leap and acted. I am now traveling with my new companions and every step along this road we take, figuratively, of course, is a step further from home than I have ever been.

The scents in the air are different, and the quiet presses more firmly along the journey, but I like it for now. I am getting off track. My first dream to stick with me in a long time went back to that woman from Quickwater. Whatever powers or influence she has over the stars, it slipped into my dreams as well. I remember a snake. Or was I the snake? I might have been both, growing all the way and hatching just like she had said. Slithering across something. A map. A map of the Petor Empire. There were places I stopped at and places I skipped, but the details got fuzzy. Then everything was in sharp focus once more. And I was a small snake at the foot of that creature from the Quickwater seller. Where I was so small I could have been crushed without thought. Then everything went black again.

I don't know what any of this means, but I hope these intrusive thoughts leave me soon.
