Personal history
Born human to aasimar parents in Eralron, Suzuki Ryuunosuke didn't stand to inherit any of the family farmland, so his parents apprenticed him to the church of Pharasma, which sent him to the far-off land of Sunscorn where novices were needed at the time. As a young man he studied the cycle of life and death in an academic way. Then as he grew older, he experienced the cycle of life and death firsthand, as a midwife and undertaker, husband and father, then eventually grandfather and great-grandfather. He saw the generations of humanity grow up, live their lives and die around him like the turning of the seasons. Every human he knew of his own generation has passed. And yet for some unknown reason he continues living. Surely soon his own time will come, but Not This Year, Not Yet. First there is something he must do. He doesn't yet know what it is, but the Lady of Graves has been calling to him in dreams, and granting him oracular powers, and there must be a reason.

Gramps has been in the church of Pharasma for a very long time. He is thus steeped in the lore of the church.

Gramps considers his greatest failure to be losing his daughter Rachel in childbirth. Ever since he has wondered if there was something he could have done to save her. He takes meager solace in the fact that he was able to save the baby.
