Frightful Dreams
A few months back I decided to purchase this journal, but I suppose it is finally about time to utilize it.
Greetings Reader,
I am Yakgnath, and I was born within the territory of The Shire, to a human female and an orc tribal leader. A vile combination, surely, and it is the one that I have been cursed with. For ten years of my life, I have been trained in the art of combat by my father. One day, however, I came across a human woman, who announced herself as my mother. She proceeded to then inform me of the nature of my creation.
I fled from my tribe, but not before being beaten down by my father, and meeting death in the process. Over time, I made my way through the most bitter cold, a land of mountains and hills, and finally found a home in the outlying forest of the human city of Summervale, I have learned to attempt to disguise myself as a human, and commonly take on the guise of a young Alexander Locke. It makes things easier as, frankly, not many of the species of this world enjoy the company of people like me.
Typically I will stay out of the city, living off of the land. Occasionally, however, I will venture inside of their walls to take on jobs that others either don’t want to do or can’t. Sometimes there is a beast that needs slaying, sometimes it is a hunt for a man outside of the city walls.
More often than not, however, I typically end up with physical labor. I suppose I don’t mind it at all. If there is one good thing those Orcs gave me, its physical strength, and it pays.
I have grown fond of the drinks that these humans serve in their bars, although the side effects are interesting, to say the least.
I have also noticed that the humans in this region worship a goddess by the name of Sarenrae, the Sun Goddess. I have not ventured into the temple devoted to her, but perhaps today I will.
Last night I had a very strange dream. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to my dreams, but this one terrified me. I sat, gazing into the distance, as flames tore past me. The world was burning, and the sun was hotter than ever. The burning feeling I grasped from the sun felt…
How do these humans call it in this Common tongue?
Ah, yes. Radiant. Divine. But, these words don’t bring such fear, and I don’t regard myself to be a bad person. Maybe I am fearful for nothing. Then again...
I have some time to myself. I shall disguise myself as Alexander, and begin my hike towards the walls. I think I need to speak to those who worship Sarenrae.
