The Last Day of Her Life

They had failed. Too slow, too weak, too stupid.

They had failed their world and their friend. And so, the end was coming. It was washing over Naldaria taking away all colour and life.

Devin just stood and watched. Her mind registered what was happening in minute detail but she failed to feel anything but emptiness within her. Although she had always been very aware of the risk of failure, she never imagined being alive to witness it.

At the end of all things, while her friends were holding each other, Devin stood alone, faced the oncoming darkness and let go.
