The Path Choosen, Hate

Calanthia was born to parents who were embroiled in a political battle. The life of Svirfneblin, deep gnomes, is fraught with danger. The underdark is dangerous. Drow, Duegar, mind layers constantly hunting the Svirfneblin. Deep gnomes have evolved with an uncanny ability to not be detected. A town council meeting had to be called, an emergency session. They seemed to believe there was a traitor who was giving information to enemies. The evidence pointed to Calanthia’s father.
 
Through diligent observation, some luck, and an investigative drive, Calantia discovered it was the rival family framing her father. Taking the evidence to the town council was a big mistake. Corruption had already taken seed. That night, her father was killed. Screams filled her home as her mother discovered her father’s body, throat slashed.
 
Calanthia was filled with rage. Hatred filled her soul. She swore she would avenge her father assassination. Young by gnomish standards, she trained in the dark arts of killing. Being the observer of life, Calanthia noticed how the Monks gracefulness and balance would be a powerful addition to her skill set. Sequestered with the religious leaders, Calanthia learned the grace and balance to add to her abilities.
 
Her plan required speed, stealth, accuracy, and a cold blooded effectiveness only an assassin could achieve. As the town slept, Calanthia went about her business. She not only eliminated the town council leaders, she killed their families. Wives, children, grand parents, 22 lives in all. To this day, the bloodbath is told to children in hopes to scare them into obedience. The phrase Calanthia will get you! Is perpetuated in households throughout the community.
 
Calanthia crossed into a realm of evil one doesn’t return from. She has spent her life being paid to kill, and she is as good as one gets. She still struggles with having to leave her family. Wishing to know of their fate after her evening of revenge. Sadness creeps into her heart when she thinks of her father. She has paid the ultimate price for her revenge, but when she contemplates the consequences, she accepts her fate and channels that hate into her next job. She is more of an adventurer today, using her skills for The Iron. She is paid well, and her skills in delivering death are used often. In the back of her mind, she hopes to wipe a ledger covered in blood. Maybe doing deeds that help the realms survive, flourish will alleviate the evils of the past. She doesn't make friends well. She is quiet, reserved, unobtrusive in nature. These traits are just some of the qualities that contribute to her success. In short, Calanthia is unseen more often then not. And not seeing her is the greatest risk anybody can take. If one doesn't see Calanthia, one just may not see anything ever again.....
