Bartholomew or 'Barty' to his friends was raised in the Capital of Kyrilia to a family of merchants that trade in rare books. The youngest of 4 sons Bartholomew turned away from the family business to seek his fortune elsewhere rather than accept a meager share of the family profits.
 
Bartholomew trained to become a wizard with the lofty goal of uncovering great truths of the universe and cementing his name in history however time and time again Bartholomew's research was collated and attributed to his betters' works much to his frustration.
 
Bartholomew realised that the only way to fulfill his dream would be to discover some wondrous new spell or use of magical energy or recover some ancient secret lost to time. Bartholomew now adventures in the hopes of making such a discovery.
