Flicker has been a stubborn druid who's seeking balance.

Feast of the Moon, 1492

An Ending

by Flicker Greenridge

This is a feast of remembrance. Time to honor lost loved ones and keep their memories alive. Tributes and praise.

This feast I remember my Grandmother.

Gran taught me much about caring for the lands that sustained us. I was always told to be grateful for my grandparents; if not for them I'd be alone on the streets after the attack. I was grateful. But Gran always told me it wasn't them keeping me alive. It was the soil and the rain and the sun. The trees that gave us lumber and fruit. The gardens that gave us root and vine. The wood and river that gave us hide and flesh.

She knew that she would one day pass, as would my grandfather, but the lands would still sustain me would I care for it. And they did pass, and I did care for the lands, and I was sustained.

Her wisdom passed to me, and my efforts drew the attention of another who approached the natural world with respect and thanks. The lessons learned from Gran allowed lessons to be learned by Argus. With his aid I stepped foot onto the Druidic path and walk it this day.

But this day, I'm not tending to the soil, nor praising the rain, nor thanking the sun.

I have powers and abilities that supersede anything I thought myself capable of. I've taken advantage of the connection with nature that was bestowed upon me. I've been sustained. But I've stopped sustaining.

There will always be people to protect, problems to be solved, wrongs to right and evil to drive out. These things will exist everywhere.

So why chase them?

Wherever I might plant myself, I will find people to protect, I will gain problems to solve, I will have opportunities to right wrongs and should evil approach, I will stand and drive it out.

I owe it to the lands that gave me life to plant myself there. To protect the creatures there. To solve the problems that grow there. To right the wrongs that my absence may have brought. To be a defender against the evils that encroach.

I owe my home my life more than anything.

I owe the natural world my devotion.

There is my greatest debt, and there is where I must return to repay it.

The major events and journals in Flicker's history, from the beginning to today.

Every time

I don't think we were followed. They would have approached us and tried to kill us in the streets again if we were followed, right? This farm is small. Quaint. I like it. Reminds me of home. Not home from before, but home from after. Qelline is too op...

Poor Judgement

How do we know the Coster didn't supply these to the Redbrands? I guess they could have been stolen, or maybe they were given as a tax to avoid a fight. But maybe they are in league with one another and our problems are multiplying! Everything makes m...

Second Thoughts

Nice bag. Wonder why Damaia was so interested in it. Doesn't seem sea-worthy with all these patches. Maybe it will hold my herbs. Puts my mind at ease to know that Keth would leave the others if Wolfie and I asked. Pumba chose his library. Radlis c...

Being Present

Didn't expect to dream about Argus. Haven't in a long time. Huh, doesn't feel much like a dream. I guess they don't always feel like dreams though do they? Or maybe it's not. Maybe when I find Reidoth I'll ask about this magic? Or...What did I eat before ...

Getting Through

These things stink. Not like "tough" or "annoying" though that's also true, but stink stink. Commit olfactory offense. I feel like my druidcraft would just add to the smell, not mask it. Fresh air would be nice. Not now, Flicker. We agreed to clean this p...
