Jin Yinralei lives on the fringes of society. Liked by few, hated by many - whether that be a result of his heritage or his reputation. He is on a quest for vengeance, but also one of restoration and order.
From a young age, Jin knew that he was different. He had never known his father, and his mother had left him with the Mages Academy at the first sign of aptitude. Whether that was done out of love, or hatred, is unknown to him.
Relative to his peers in the Academy, he was very gifted in spell-craft, but had a propensity to lose control - often at the worst possible moments. This often brought upon him the ire of his superiors, and victims alike. Further, entrenched in the teachings of the Academy was a healthy distrust, or even animosity, towards the Elves, and their unwitting descendants. Jin learned of his Half-Elf heritage, for better or worse, while at the academy.
After being banished from the Academy, shattered staff in hand, Jin wandered Krya in search of a new home. On his journeys he traveled through towns, farms, caves, and barrows. One adventure after another, some more profitable than others. One of the best had landed Jin his first Elvish Gunwands, which were found were deep within the catacombs of the ruins of a long-deserted stronghold.
Jin never did find permanence, but he did find a mentor. As a fellow Half-Elf, he was able to help Jin begin to understand the true meaning of his heritage and provided keen insights on how he could control and amplify his abilities. They continued to travel nomadically, each helping the other to reach new heights in their trade. However, doom seemed to follow at Jin's coattails - years after meeting, his mentor was killed during one night. From that moment, Jin had set himself upon a quest of vengeance. However, he was also driven to dive deeper into his heritage, and look for a way to mend the world.

Defining Moment
In a rage, I smashed my channeling staff. It never felt quite right... I procured two relics, archaic projectile weapons, that seem to resonate with energy - heard they were called Gunwands. They were more fitting.

I killed your mentor. You don't know, but I do - and I consider watching your back a life-long debt owed.

My Path Crosses with Caius Walker...
I followed Jin to the Blight with ill intentions. While following him, I was attacked by a Gamlord, and he defeated the beast but not fast enough to save me from a grave wound. The same power he used to fell the beast, was used to heal me.
