Desma is a Goliath in her mid thirties trained in the art of warfare, tactics and smithing. If she has other interests, there are none around who know of them, though rumors used to spread through the ranks that she had a soft spot for poetry. She is currently traveling Theros in on a quest from Athena while attempting to understand life outside of the Akroan military.

Personal history
Given the natural sturdiness of the Goliath, Desma took to war like a bird might take to the sky. Naturally hardy, she was (and still is) known for being notoriously hard to hurt, let alone kill. She was separated from her clan at a young age and grew up in the town she eventually served in. Part of her time in service was seen as repayment of the debt of boarding the wayward child, but given her devotion to the art of elegant war and the lady of tactics, Athena, many saw it as a divine calling. She herself saw it that way as well.
While she was seen as a legend worthy commander and soldier, her people have a hard time taking orders from pompous, foolish leaders. Nepotism rears its ugly head, even in the military, and her commanding officer, before her dismissal, was a foolish young man with no head for tactics. He enjoyed throwing soldiers at problems until they were solved and, because Desma was in those ranks, it usually worked, though no thanks to him. Eventually, given the choice between following his orders and abandoning a town full of people to destruction and staying to fight, she chose as her Goddess would have her and fought. The town was saved, the soldiers were heroes, herself included, but their commander was furious. As the word spread up to high command, she was labeled insubordinate, stripped of her rank and sent to the pit for, what the family had hoped, would be a quick and honorable death.
Desma, however, did not die. It was not her desire to be a pit fighter rather than a proper soldier and tactician, but she was good at it. All too aware of the hope of those who wrongfully discharged her, she takes great pleasure in surviving each bout in the ring.
Education
Desma was trained initially as a frontline soldier and then, later, as a Captain of her own company of warriors. She has also received basic training as a blacksmith.
Employment
Formerly a Captain in the Akroan army, currently Goddess errand girl.
Mental Trauma
Lots.
But really, there is some trauma around the death of her herd, but most recently her company dying one by one has started to wear on her.
Intellectual Characteristics
War and that's it. She's an idiot at everything else.
Morality & Philosophy
Honor above all else. She swears all of Akros used to be the same, but has started to wonder how much of that was Akroan brainwashing.
person.sexuality
Men need not bark up this lesbian.
person.gender_identity
Identifies as female.
Known Languages
Common, Giant
Personality
Motivation
To fulfill her purpose to Athena, to save her company, to try to be more than what Akros made her be.

Religious Views
An ardent follower of the Goddess Athena
Social Aptitude
Desma can be quite well spoken when it comes to her missions, however she's awkward when interacting with people outside of a military structure. Given her years away from even military persons, that awkwardness has even extended to speaking to women she finds appealing.
Hanging out with Chip and Lydia seems to be helping this matter.
