Feywild Trip.
What happens between Kat's arrival and departure is open for now. Took the courier role of delivering a big trade agreement to secure a deal with a [dwarven blacksmith guild] in Proto'Jon. The deal was to create a working relationship between the houses, the Tanager's selling their fine dwarven goods on the other side of the [western mountain range].
- First session. Kat is taken further into the tree line and nursed to health for 10 days, while time passes 105 years on the Prime Plane. Her hand is operated on (shoddily) by Kazire; he swaps their hand's places and whole or not, puts a magical gem or item in her new hand while he remains attuned to it.
Conditions of Pact.
Kazire granted 1) pact magic, 2) saved her life & 3) a working hand
Kat is expected to repay by 1) breaking his Fey binding & 2) return power equivalent to what was granted.
Kat's Hand.
Kat's dominant (R) hand was frost bitten in and it's associated magical winter storm. While in the Feywild, Kazire amputated both hers and his right hands and swapped them; this is what allows him to provide her with pact magic and it gave him a place to hide his loot. Fused into the center of her grey, clammy hand is a solid disc that somehow ligament, bone and tendon either form around or oddly... through? It is a static circular fixture in the center of her right hand.
Maybe the object in Kat's hand is only 1 of multiple pieces to a whole. Together they create a more powerful item Kazire needs to perform his work. Or just the staff and a powerful gem combine to make 1 exalted item.

Abilities. 60ft darkvision, charm resistance, magical sleep immunity.
- Pact Magic. Knows 2 cantrips, 3 spells and has 2 spell slots of 1st level.
- Invocations. Agonizing blast adds +3 to damage. Eldritch Mind gives ADV on concentration checks.

Ideas.
Kat was sponsored by the Tanager Co. obviously and her test was to sell a deal to the dwarves of some place and then make it back with the signed affidavit and deal.

- Starting place is near a pristine statue; passed out in a snow storm to a dilapidated statues and woke up about
Traveling a relatively safe passage through the [western mountain range] that was commissioned by the Tanager family, generations before. It consists of permanent, but obscured arcane gates, assistive measures and warding magic placed along the route to make passage through the very dangerous mountain range to Proto'Jon feasible.

Kat Tanager was born as the 7th child to the Tanager Clan- a large and well established family that has been wildly regarded as a Merchant House for generations. The tanager is a songbird and serves as the symbol of her family's business. It's expected that all Tanagers will further the cause in some capacity. As she's just come of age and is not particularly enthusiastic about the idea of having her whole life already planned on her behalf, Kat is given a very low ranking job: courier. Her parent's plan was just to expose Kat to the world so she would appreciate the comparatively cozy job as a businesswoman. The job as a courier brought her around the seaside, delivering mail and other correspondence between artisans and sellers, and the freedom she experienced was eye opening.
On one particular trip during the winter Kat gets caught in a storm- even though she'd traveled that particular path many times, she still got lost. She stumbled through the forest for much longer than she should have, and even when she should have emerged from the trees she kept getting turned around. Eventually, after hours of stumbling, Kat came across a long forgotten shrine to some unknowable deity/being/creature. It was very, very old and in horrible shape, and overcome with exhaustion and with hypothermia setting in, she collapsed at the foot of the statue.
After some time, Kat woke up. It became very quickly apparent that something was different: instead of the dead of winter it was spring/summer, and the statue/shrine was now in pristine condition. Something about her felt off as well- some sort of power that hadn't existed had suddenly manifested itself in her. Kat felt rejuvenated when she should be have been dead, and compelled by some force to go out an explore. Who knows how much time has passed, or who this unknowable entity that now has a stake in Kat's life is????
