She is currently overseeing a travelling acting troupe, telling the stories of Old Allotail. She took a break from her budding acting career, to go on one last adventure with Koal, one of her old party members, and his new friends. With her role in their mission complete, she bid her old friend and new friends farewell and returned to her life in the Provinces. Her heroic days may have come to a close with the destruction of Old Allotail, but she has a knack for showing up in convenient places. It's likely that their paths will cross again someday...

Appearance
Physical Description
Mossie is rather stout and curvy. She likes to emphasize her voluptuous figure. She doesn't like running or going anywhere at a pace that isn't to her luxury. When she was adventuring with the Old Allotail party, she and Koal had a practice where Mossie would Levitate herself, and a rope would connect her to Koal. Koal would run, and pull the floating Mossie along so that she didn't have to. It is a practice that they have honed to the point where they do not need to think about it, and automatically do it whenever they need to go somewhere fast.
Facial Features
She has a motherly, welcoming face and is only very occasionally seen without a warm smile. Her hair is rarely seen with a curl out of place, and she painstakingly styles it to achieve a great volume. It may be magically dyed, but Mossie will never, ever, ever say.
She is capable of making herself quite intimidating when she wants to.
Identifying Characteristics
Mossie is a (non-natural) blonde with a distinctive, voluminous curled updo.
Apparel & Accessories
Mossie tries to dress as well as she can with what she has. She considers adventuring gear disgraceful and below her station, but she will use it grudgingly. She prefers to wear elegant and feminine dresses.
Specialized Equipment
She carries a large wooden sign, which doubles both as a physical weapon and an advertisement for her wares. It reads "Maffickly Motivated" in painted letters. She also has a net, which is really too big for her to use, but she was trying to rizz the shopkeeper so she bought it anyway.
She has come to acquire a well-built traveling cart for getting around Allotail, and has become adept with moving herself from place to place, both to spread her business and to escape the wrath of stiffed customers. The cart is equipped with the trappings of a travelling stage show and merch cart.
Special abilities
Mossie has been through a number of patrons or patron gods, and tends to take up the mantle of whatever otherworldly being kicked the butt of whoever she was last pledged to. So far, she was initially contracted with a fiend. After Obsidian and Celeste helped her regain her soul from said fiend, she followed Celeste, goddess of monsters and second chances. Following Celeste's plan for Allotail being overshadowed by Awane-turned-Alwix's intervention, Mossie pledged herself to Awane. She is serving as a cleric of Awane to this day.

Personal history
Moscanda was born to an elven father and human mother. She took to the roads as a young adult to find meaning in herself and meet new people.
As she traveled, she kept memoirs narrating her journey until she reached the city where she joined a scribe's guild. During her time on the road, she had gotten quite good at saying what other people want to hear. She put these skills to use to write the self-help series "Mossie Maffick's Maffickly Motivated" for travelers uncertain of who they are and adventurers in search of meaning.
Her books were a bestseller series and were sold far and wide. Eventually, competition with other artisans caused her "fad" to die off. She made a soul pact with a fiend in exchange for renewed fame. Eventually, word of her deceitful pact got out and she was evicted from the writers' guild that had been publishing her works.
Since being evicted from the guild, Mossie has taken up a mixed adventuring lifestyle once more and resorted to selling exaggerated memoirs of her travels, at prices she feels are far undeserving of her work.
She accepted a tempting offer to meet a man named Bail at dinner, meeting a bard named Kyven and a monk named Koal there. With them, she embarked on a quest to wake the gods and was joined by Edelwyn, a barbarian. She continued to write memoirs while she travelled and even began a new series based on their adventures. The Old Party worked to awaken gods after being betrayed by Bailor, who sent them after a cursed Crocid, god of war. Mossie was able to dispel a cursed arrow from Crocid, which had been making him aggressive. A mysterious woman accompanying their party revealed herself to be his wife, Celeste, the goddess of second chances and monsters.
Celeste told Mossie that Obsidian, the god of death, could help her recover her soul and escape her fiendish pact. Mossie agreed, and started following Celeste for her second chance. Sometime during this period, Mossie started hearing a strange voice in her head that wasn't her patron fiend, or her goddess.
After meeting and awakening several gods, Mossie and the old party found themselves face to face with Elix in Bridge City. Before the battle could get truly under way, she was pulled through a portal by the goddess Clepsydra.
While being portalled, something interfered with Clepsydra's magic, causing Mossie to be dropped. Mossie discovered that the voice in her head was Awane, the god of creation and one half of Alwix. Mossie agreed to let Awane possess her body in order to attempt to merge with Elix and prevent the destruction of Allotail. In doing so, they interrupted Celeste's plan to stop Elix using the power of multiple gods. Awane was able to merge with Elix, forming Alwix. After Awane left Mossie, Mossie ended up in the arms of a super-powered Celeste. Alwix drained Celeste's power, and Mossie felt Celeste's blessing leave her.
Celeste explained what Alwix was doing, gathering scattered realms and connecting them with magic to restore stability to Allotail. Mossie was then gently placed into Bridge City, with some time having past.
She lost contact with her old party, and started following Awane/Alwix as her god at that point. Mossie continued to publish books, chasing the ends of the story. She eventually recreated the old party in the form of hired actors who ran a travelling crew. She met with her old friend Koal and his new party while traveling with her acting troupe. When Koal and company needed help rescuing friends from enemy hands, Mossie dropped everything to help them. Her adventures with Koal, Kyven, and the old Allotail party had softened her selfish heart, and while she ultimately didn't continue to adventure with the new party, it was so that she could continue to mentor and provide a home for her young actors. Without the old party, she never would have given a second thought to the wellbeing of anyone but herself.
She left her friends new and old on good terms, and has positive feelings towards Laz, Tourmaline, and Corduroy. She doesn't care much for their mechanical bodyguard.
Mossie plans to continue writing her novels, maybe including the newest adventures she's been in with the new crowd. Whatever she ends up writing, keep a lookout for new installments of MAFFICK: THE GATHERING! hitting shelves in a bookstore near you.
Education
Mossie is well educated in writing and literature. However, if she has any ties to any guilds in the Provinces, she does not speak of them....
Employment
She is now self-employed, and has been for some time. Mossie proudly considers herself to be a hard-working small business owner.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Mossie was once a best-selling motivational author. She saw some adventuring experience and was able to dispell a cursed arrow cast on Crocid, the god of war. Her series, Maffick: The Gathering, based on her adventures with the Old Party, has gained some traction lately.
Failures & Embarrassments
Her books have largely fallen out of fame, and her new memoirs have not quite seen the meteoric success of her self-help series.
Mental Trauma
She has something of a jaded view of the realities of adventuring and heroism.
Intellectual Characteristics
Mossie is quite clever, but generally applies it to what is most beneficial and interesting to herself.
Morality & Philosophy
Mossie's morality tends towards what is best for Mossie, and what will make the most exciting and dramatic story. She is not above putting her own glory above the well-being of others, if she does not care for them. However, she is very loyal to a select few, and will go to great ends to see them well. She believes that it is critical to put oneself first in many situations, and believes it is important to impart that belief to others who may be what she views as too self-sacrificing. She doesn't view selfishness as inherently bad, and may even consider it a virtue.
The adventuring party that she travelled with in the Provinces seemed to bring out some good in her. She's still more than willing to lie, cheat, and trick on their behalf.
person.sexuality
Mossie is attracted to people regardless of gender, and seems to like her partners with a bit of spice. She is not known to get attached to her partners easily.
person.gender_identity
Mossie identifies as female.
Taboos
There are few things that are considered "too far" for Mossie, but if someone speaks ill of themselves near her, she may be inclined to swoop in with her wealth of motivational knowledge and attempt to change their minds.
Though she may be quick to scam, swindle, and cut corners on her way to notoriety, Mossie has never been inclined towards outright murder, theft, assault, or other forms of direct and violent crime. She prefers to get her way with a smile on everyone's faces--it's only after she leaves that they realize they've been had.
Known Languages
Common, Elvish, Infernal
Personality
Motivation
Mossie was largely motivated by her own self-interests. She sought a lavish lifestyle, wide renown, and literary acclaim.
She has grown fond of her little acting troupe lately, and wants to see them launch successful careers and be able to survive on their own merit. Her heart has been softened by the adventures she has had in Allotail.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: writing, storytelling, telling tall tales, elaborate tea times, baking, getting her hair done, getting out of contracts, meeting new people
Dislikes: commitment, physical activity, working too hard, horses, dirt, being poor, staying in gross inns, staying in one place for too long
Virtues & Personality perks
Mossie is very kind and genuinely helpful to those she cares for. She will always be willing to lend an ear about any troubles.
Vices & Personality flaws
Mossie is not opposed to being somewhat cutthroat in pursuit of literary glory. Her ambitions have gotten the best of her in the past....
Hygiene
Mossie is quite cleanly, and will be displeased if she has to get sweaty at all. She smells vaguely of honey and lotion.

The God's Hope:
Koal Clay: Mossie genuinely cares for Koal and is glad to see Koal once more. She's happy to relive the old days travelling with him in an adventuring party. After meeting up with him again in Echo City, she's looking forward to spending more time with him and getting to know his new party. She's delighted to meet Koal's boyfriend, Umber. She not-so-secretly gets a kick out of Koal getting so flustered by the merch.
She's very concerned about the lengths that Koal will go to for someone other than himself, and wonders if teaching him the art of self-worth through self-preservation would be a worthwhile endeavor, or a doomed one. She considers herself far more pragmatic in this regard than he is, but she sees that he has a big heart and doesn't want to say anything that will cause him to distance himself from her. She's mostly travelling with the party because she doesn't want to see Koal bite the dust. (The fact that she gets more writing material notwithstanding). Making the decision to not engage in the final rescue mission was very difficult for Mossie, because it means putting Koal at greater risk without her backup. She isn't ready to let go of him yet. She hopes to hear more from him later.
Lazuli Lapre: Lazuli seems sweet, and easily entertained. Mossie has her eyes on Laz. She's glad that he seems close to Koal and seems to care about his friends, which is a good trait for an insecure or lonely person to have. She's noted that he clearly cares for Koal and Scottwick. She doesn't know him very well, but thinks he is soft-spoken. She is still trying to figure out if Laz is more confident than he appears, or less confident than he appears. She's in the process of deciding what his most dramatically interesting characteristics are, and how she will elaborate on that in her stories. She's considering writing him as an unparalleled, but sensitive scholar of fearsome beastes and divine magicks.
She thinks he's a doll, and may dote on him in an overly saccharine way. She's come to the conclusion that Laz can very well take care of himself, however. She thinks he's quite level-headed and very polite. Laz seems to her to play the role of the peacekeeper/diplomat in their little social circle. She suspects that, while vulnerable, he's a lot less fragile than he lets on.
Tourmaline Riviere: She thinks Tourmaline is very polite. She's keeping an eye on him. He seems to have the most no-nonsense head out of the group of them. She thinks he wouldn't be a very easy person to bullshit, and can respect that professionally. Of the group, she considers him to be the point of contact for more weighty matters, or matters that might require a subtle touch. She has him earmarked as the brains, manager, and insurance policy of their little group. Mossie doesn't expect him to be caught easily with glamor and sweets, so would be more keen to take on a more down-to-earth demeanor when approaching him. She expects Tourmaline to be the one to pull the party out of trouble if something goes sideways.
Corduroy Jones: Mossie sees a fellow rule-breaker in Corduroy. She would offer him a place in her troupe if she had the gold to put someone else on her payroll. She envisions his character as a flashy, troublemaking western trickster, with a cool taste in weapons.
Amari: Mossie doesn't know Amari at all, other than that she is a busy cleric and was part of Koal's party.
"Lovey": Mossie finds Lovey to be a smidge unsettling, but tolerates it. She generally likes Lovey better the further away from her it is.
Scottwick Faneuil: She doesn't know much about him, but also doesn't know how much she wants to meet the mind behind "Lovey". More importantly, Faneuil's absence seems to be overshadowing Mossie's presence, and she doesn't care for sharing her spotlight. However, the others seem to like him enough to throw themselves behind enemy lines for his and/or his boyfriend's sake, so she's willing to go along with the rescue mission in the meantime. After all, who doesn't love a story with a band of dashing and witty heroes, a daring rescue, and mysterious encounters with the gods themselves?
Old Allotail Party:
Koal: Koal is very special to Mossie. She considers him to be her honorary son. She wants to see him thrive and get over his shyness. She received some letters from Koal after the adventures of the Old Party ended, and treasured the fact that he was still alive and doing well. (See above for recent notes.)
Kyven: Mossie loves Kyven. She sees great musical potential within him and wants him to really step outside his boundaries and succeed. Occasionally she hears of Kyven's exploits since the Dawn of New Allotail, and she works them into her new publications.
Edelwyn: Mossie has a deep respect for Edelwyn. She found herself relating to Edelwyn's desire to see more of the world. She hopes Edelwyn is doing well in her travels.
Gods:
Awane: She respects and is loyal to Awane for saving Allotail. She enjoys praying to them and considers herself a cleric of both Awane and Alwix. She prefers Awane AKA "honeybunches". She would be willing to stick her neck out for Awane if they asked very politely (and didn't ask too terribly much of her). She will generally heed their word.
Alwix: She respects Alwix, as she does Awane. She doesn't know Elix very well. She is comfortable with praying to Alwix and will turn to them in a time of need.
Bailor: Bailor is on Mossie's no-no list. She thinks he is a cheat and a liar.
Crocid: Mossie has somewhat positive feelings on Crocid. She has no dislike for him and is happy that he seems to do Koal good.
Celeste: Mossie appreciates Celeste's kindness and prays to her, but privately thinks she is a bit of a sucker. Mossie is much more interested in what Celeste can do for Mossie than in what Mossie can do for Celeste. She appreciates Celeste, nevertheless.
Clepsydra: Mossie thinks Clepsydra is very funny, if awkward. She is unsure about the enormous amount of cats Clepsydra keeps.
Koina: She thinks Koina's very sweet, and would love very much to dote on him until he's a proper, fully fledged god.
Noah: Noah made a good impression on Mossie. He seems to care deeply for his horses. She trusts Noah much more than she trusts his horses.
Umber: She has only recently met Umber, but has heard much about him in Koal's fond, and often distressed letters. Though she doesn't know the full story, she has some sympathy for why Umber was upset about Koal going on this journey. She secretly sides with him on this matter, though she would not bring it up again out of respect for Koal's choices, and would be hard-pressed to go against Koal publicly.
Religious Views
Mossie followed Celeste, the goddess of second chances. She has since redevoted herself to follow Awane's half of Alwix.
Social Aptitude
Mossie is extremely friendly and enjoys negotiating. She will never turn down a business opportunity. She's a bit of a flirt, and tends to make a lot of first moves.
Hobbies & Pets
She is very fond of Kyven's pet chicken, Marvin. She doesn't particularly like Lovey, and is frightened of Noah's horse, Grimoire.
Speech
Mossie speaks with the fantasy version of a Southern lilt. She tries to sound upper-class.
