A lunar reflection of radiant hope.

When diametrically opposing wills collide, the cosmos at large may react unpredictably. Such was the case when two siblings of the same house, the eternal idealist Geneviève and the Hells-corrupted Pierre-Pascal, clashed against each other without a clear victor emerging. For in the wake of their battle, a planar manifestation emerged. A reflection of her progenitor, but far from a copy: Lunière, as she has taken to calling herself.

 
Lunière is blessed, or cursed, with an unusual spiritual connection to the ancestors of the Frankling lineage. Whereas she can invoke divine magic and consult their sage wisdom, they can do the very same thing back. Often asininely.


 

The Falcate Moon


Lunière is almost an exact mirror to Geneviève, but the way she presents herself makes all the difference. The one thing that does separate them is her heterochromia: her right eye being green, just like her originator, whilst the left has an icy blue colour on a dark sclera. She wears an orange-hued laurel wreath with a silver symbol in the shape of her arcane sign, the Falcate Moon, parting her bangs. Lunière wears a short saffron-coloured dress with a steeled neck brace, and decorates her arms and legs in metal ornaments, with some depicting a lunar motif.

 
Her signature weapon is the Moonlight Axe, a double-headed greataxe displaying the Falcate Moon on its upper handle.

Personal history

As a planar reflection of Geneviève, Lunière has no past, but certainly intends to forge, both a present and a future out of current circumstances. Adept in the arcane arts and skilled in the application of axe-related violence, Lunière’s skillset differs significantly from the more regimented, regulation-styled finesse of her analogue.

 

Herald of the Living Ancestors


Vestigial spirits of the Frankling bloodline formed a communal bond with Lunière immediately upon her materialisation. Or, perhaps, the connection is an inherent part of her being. Whilst several ancestors of note make their thoughts known to Lunière, she has a particularly strong affinity to Godwin the Liberator, a legendary warrior of yore and the forefather of Clan Rannvi, which was the ancient tribe that the Franklings eventually branched off from. Unlike many of the other ancestor spirits, Godwin doesn’t harangue Lunière with unasked-for “back-in-my-days,” which she has quickly come to appreciate. As such, she has fashioned her gargantuan greataxe in honour of the one he brandished on the battlefield.

The labour from the contemptible Dragon happened to align favourably with our consciences. A perilous thing indeed. Even so, the fallout from our little excursion should naturally disincline the others from even entertaining the idea of returning to that scaled monstrosity.
 
The role of messenger came down to Jane. Which I hope to be circumstantial rather than deliberate. We were to retrieve a liche’s phylactery from a mausolean tomb. Presumably that of an ancient nemesis. Leave it to an oversized lizard with an ego to match to omit the specifics. It was the Liche of Jane’s past. In dracologic time that Liche might as well be a newborn. We were truly entangled with the most craven and pathetic Dragon this side of the Expanse. It will never command respect, instil fear, or evoke dread. There will be no glorious tale told when it dies. Even if it dares to die with dignity in battle.
 
I will not even attempt to describe the nature of the Liche’s foul experiments and arcane perversions. It might as well be Akkonian to me. Every unliving mistake we encountered there was slain and the opus of its sacrilege was exposed to a killing blow. The phylactery was forcefully transferred into Jane. It may have been unavoidable. That does not make it less wicked. Nor does it allay my anger.
