Created by a god, two noble siblings, and a great thinker (tbd by Dan)
One of the four Zhou Yi, sprites created in ancient times, bound in iron coins, and used in divination rituals at the request of gods and dragons and emperors and the like. Together they could read the patterns of the universe flawlessly and guide history.
3000 years ago Kun Gen, the gnome coin, went missing. The truth is lost to history. Destroyed in a war? Stolen by a forgotten beast? Reclaimed by the god who created it? Regardless, without all four coins they were as good as worthless; just ancient baubles. As such they were separated, traded, passed down, displayed, hidden, and looted by various families, nations, and armies over the years.
Recently (sometime in the past couple centuries) the sprites within the coins have developed sentience. Kan Dui, the undine coin, is currently in possession of the Surinese empress.

Personal history
This is a new form to them and they are still learning about it. Previously, they had spend countless lifetimes as a disembodied consciousness, observing the world without purpose or thought. But now, Kan Dui is a small, vaguely humanoid creature composed of water and who lives in a coin.
They were once asked if they enjoy their new life as a sentient being. Kan Dui is not one to ask questions, but this one has stuck with them. After so long of helping others discover the secrets of the universe, fate has granted an opportunity to discover their own secrets.
Education
A focal point of the cosmic din
Morality & Philosophy
Nihilistic hard determinism: All events are pre-destined to occur. Not even the gods have free will. Kan Dui applies no thought or concern for the morality of an individual's actions; those actions were inevitable and the consequences as well.
Known Languages
Surinese, Primordial
Personality
Motivation
Because they were created to grant mortals answers, they have been largely without purpose since Kun Gen went missing. Kan Dui perceives their new quest as a new outlet for their purpose.
