Education

While true that Arcendor Gravis is a prominent figure in the Venatorian Empire, he hails from the Authenian Republic. He studied the arcane arts at the Elpida Academy in Olympia. A true prodigy in necromancy, Arcendor quickly caught up to the skill level of those who were supposed to be teaching him. While necromancy was his true gift, he did not limit himself to it, and became rather skilled at both divination and abjuration magic. He also became somewhat adept in the subject of magical constructs.
 
Arcendor Gravis spent years in the Ceilic Region studying the native undead, such as the abhartachs and the sluagh. He stayed with Clan Spartach for the majority of his time there, before the clan's destruction.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Two years ago Arcendor Gravis created the first Custort, a type of undead warrior that guards the capitol of the Venatorian Empire. The Custorts only take orders from Gravis himself, and so their creation shocked the power balance of the Empire. Before the Custorts, everyone below the Emperor himself could be replaced, but Arcendor has made himself irreplaceable and not everyone within the Empire is pleased with this.

Intellectual Characteristics

Arcendor has a tendency to become interested in new topics of study, believing that educating himself is amongst his highest priorities. Where most people would run when seeing a daemon or a manticore, Arcendor would stop to make notes about its anatomy and ask it questions about its innate magic.

Morality & Philosophy

Arcendor Gravis cares not for morality, but instead has come to the philosophical conclusion that it matters not if your actions are right or wrong, all he cares about is if they are significant and go into history. He believes that small pleasantries are pointless, as they will be forgotten, and if they are forgotten, they might as well never have happened.

Motivation

Arcendor seeks power, both magical and political. He wants this power so he can influence the world and have a mark on history, for good or bad. The one true wish of Arcendor Gravis is to be remembered.
 
He spends much of his time trying to make himself as instrumental as possible to the Venatorian Empire, making his replacement impossible. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by the Legates and the Procurators, who are beginning to see Arcendor Gravis as a threat to the integrity of the Venatorian Empire.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Arcendor Gravis is believed by most to be the most skilled necromancer in all of Eregost. He is fully capable of ascending to lichdom, however he chooses not to, as he believes that the drawbacks outweigh the positives. He discovered the concept of soul fracturing, and is the only person to be skilled enough to harness this in order to create custorts. Due to his mastery of necromancy, Arcendor can easily dominate the will of any undead ,barring revenants, with the mere snap of his fingers.
 
Arcendor Gravis was fully educated on the inner workings of magical constructs, from prosthetics to warforged. He is fully capable of making prosthetics, warforged or magic items as long as he is given the materials needed.
 
Arcendor is well versed in the anatomy of most creatures, an area of expertise he picked up in order to further his knowledge of necromancy. He saw that understanding the living body would help him understand what it means to breath new life into a corpse.
 
Most of Arcendor's spells are not suited to direct confrontation, meaning that while his skills make it possible for him to create armies and alter nature itself, he is less conventionally powerful in combat than one might expect. If he is ever in danger, he relies more on his wits and premade plans more than the raw power of his magic.

Vices & Personality flaws

Arcendor Gravis is fully aware of the impressive nature of his work, and the immensity of his intellect, and this self awareness has transformed into arrogance. Arcendor Gravis believes himself to be superior to most, and does not try to hide this belief, a fact that has created no shortage of high ranking figures in the Venatorian Empire who are in opposition to him.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Arcendor Gravis is the only person who can command the Custorts, undead constructs that guard the Venatorian Capital. They are undead thralls without a will of their own, and they cannot be permanently killed.
 
He has a few contacts left in the Authenian Republic, most of them were fellow students when he was still in training.

Religious Views

Arcendor cares not for the gods. His work is a direct insult to Hades, and he would rather slit his own throat than rely on a god in order for him to achieve his goals. The Church of Hades has accused Arcendor Gravis of heresy, a charge he does not deny.

Mannerisms

Arcendor Gravis is logical and rarely lets emotion get the better of him. Cold and calculating, Arcendor Gravis radiates professionalism, never letting his personal feelings get to the surface unless someone drags these feelings out of him through repeated provocation.
 
Arcendor Gravis always speaks in a formal and sophisticated manner, though he tends to be extremely condescending, even when talking to those who he considers allies. He is comfortable critizing others in a very blunt manner, accurately pointing out the reason for their failures, and rarely feels regret for this behaviour.
