Tharak Stonefall

Tharak carries himself with quiet stoicism, a gruff exterior hiding an equally gruff interior. Firstborn son in his family, he spent his early years in the Thane's army, protecting his home against servants of the dragons, and ratmen incursions.

The major events and journals in Tharak's history, from the beginning to today.

Forgotten stash of dragon clan loot, stolen from our brethren. No wonder it hasn't been reclaimed since the wars, not only this place was well off the beaten path, the bones in the pool are a clear sign we were not the first to stumble upon it. We were first to defeat the things lurking in here though. Nasty, slimy creatures. We found who we came for, even Raenwyn's kin was here, the Brothers must be smiling upon us, and met an ancient spirit of the earth. That spirit... the hammer is within me? I know fully well that the Earthshaker was an actual hammer, my family's countless generations set out to find out what happened to it after the mountain fell burying Beris alongside his weapon. A spirit of the earth would be a straightforward one, so there must be some deeper meaning to its words that I do not understand. Perhaps I should pay a visit to the temple back at Tal'Thril, see if I can gain more insight into this dilemma.

These ambushers were after Berak. It seems there is someone with vested interest of seeing this expedition fail. I will leave figuring out the whos and the whats to those better inclined towards such. Turns out thought that they have hired the worst of the worst of the Onar. Not only they were resorting to cowardly tactics of striking from hiding, like lowly goblins, they were also incredibly ineffectual against my defense. I would expect such results from skadyr or kobolds, not a full blooded Onar, it is good they died. My tactic paid off, having defeated their spellcaster, the darkness dissipated rather quickly, I don't think they anticipated one of us will be able to sense them in the dark. Some of their blades found gaps in my armor but not nearly enough to cause serious damage. Perhaps I should look into some magical equipment to aid my skills. The assassins have failed, whatever we face next is bound to be more competent.

I don't know what those worms were, I have never encountered anything like them. After one of them found a gap in my armor, I can still feel weakened by that blow but it should be nothing that a good rest won't take care of. The demon thing vanished halfway through the mines. As expected it can deliver a blow, but it is hard to rely on something that will be destroyed by kobolds. The human, Draggen I think, can certainly land some accurate blows, but should really stick to being in the back. Raenwyn might be the key for this expedition's success if we delve much further into the deeps. It's good to have a priestess among us, Durond's blessings are invaluable. Havi can definitely swing that hammer, but he may end up waking something that should be kept slumbering. Then there's Torbrand. I hope he will find more bravery to join the fighting one way or another, though I suppose as a thief he's been performing rather well... besides triggering a few traps. We've cleared as much of this Hall as we could without digging up some of the larger cave-ins. I will leave figuring out this ritual stuff to those better versed in these matters but the sound of a mithril-adamantine alloy is rather intriguing, I can only begin to imagine what wondrous armor I could make out of it. As tough as adamantine yet as light as mithril? It would certainly bring the Onar back to the forefront of metallurgy once more.

It has been too long since I was in a real fight, that demon creature should not have broken through my defenses so easily. Bah, I need to shake out of it, or this little adventure will be my last. This Berak seems a decent fellow, can hold his own in a fight at least, but Grunor has some work to do before I can trust him. What self respecting dwarf lets someone... or something else do their fighting for them?
