Personal history
Elessar's father was a human, his mother an elf. When Elessar was only two years old, his father was killed out in the wilds of the north. Thus Elessar never really knew him, at this time, his mother would move with him to an Elven settlement, where he was raised, educated, and trained. His mother would not remarry, yet despite this, an Elven noble of the settlement, would take Elessar in as his own, becoming his adoptive father.
Elessar was told of his biological fathers side of the family, and their nomadic lives in the wilds when he was 20 years old. It would be at this time that he would return to the human wandering tribe, training in survival and combat with their rangers and rogues. The group was dedicated to staying in these wilds, seeking out the darkness that was there, and lashing out at it when possible, the group felt it was their responsibility, a way to hold the darkness back from the civilized parts of the world. Elessar would join in this task for many years. Due to this he would learn much of the evils in the world, and this would affect his worldview and morality.
When Elessar turned 74, he would get the news that his mother's health was failing, he would return to the Elven settlement to take care of her during this time. She would die after one year of battling the strange sickness. After her death, Elessar would decide to seek out a new path, with connections outside of the wilds, opportunities to better himself, and perhaps answers to his questions about the state of the world.
In his search, at the age of 76, he heard of the Heroes Guild of Asgarn. He would meet a few other individuals that were looking for entry, and decided that traveling with this group might be a good change of pace, especially in this land he was unfamiliar with.

Elessar has experienced much darkness in his times working as a scout, whether these witnessed evils came from "civilized" peoples, or monsters in the wilds, Elessar's worldview was affected by these events. In this some people can consider his positions and understandings to be dark or pessimistic.
Elessar believes there is good in the world, but that it is hard to obtain and uphold. Doing so takes great sacrifice, and careful maneuvering. Working for the good of the world might often take acts that some might consider to be dark.
