The Oathbow

The oathbow is an extremely powerful magical item that was found by Elessar Telcontar in a White Wolf's lair in the White Mountains. When an arrow is knocked into the bow, it whispers to the wielder in Elvish "Dant lagor anin gyth nin!" which means "Swift defeat to my enemies!"

"Dant lagor anin gyth nin!"

"Alarca Gwanu an ech yan gar neithan nin."
--- "(A) Swift death to you who have wronged me."

The wielder may whisper to the bow the command phrase "Swift death to you who have wronged me!" in Elvish, to invoke the bow's power, marking the target as the wielder's sworn enemy.

Significance

An impressive magical weapon. It is unknown who possessed the bow prior to Elessar.
