Naxene DuLac hails from the distant land of Meldir, a snowbound, insular realm nestled deep in the northern mountains. Meldir is a place where ancient traditions still reign, and its people rarely venture beyond their icy borders. Outsiders are seldom welcomed, and knowledge is passed down not through books, but through spoken word, sacred rituals, and eldritch memory.
Even as a child, Naxene stood apart. Brilliant, determined, and impossibly gifted with arcane potential, she was both feared and admired within her homeland. But where most Meldirans held fast to the past, Naxene hungered for something more. Her ambition grew alongside her power—and eventually, it could no longer be contained within the frigid halls of Meldir.
She left her homeland—an act considered nearly heretical—and journeyed south, eventually arriving at the University of Scholara in Aurelia. There, her brilliance dazzled scholars and mystics alike, but her rise through the ranks was anything but smooth. She clashed repeatedly with the university’s existing leadership, especially with Amara Faithkeeper, the revered and long-standing head of the institution.
Through subtle manipulation, carefully placed alliances, and no small amount of magical leverage, Naxene orchestrated Amara’s quiet removal from power. Rumors swirled—some say bribes were paid, others whisper of hexes and oaths broken—but none could prove wrongdoing. In the end, it didn’t matter. Amara was gone, and Naxene DuLac now sat at the head of Scholara’s most powerful institution of magic.
To most, she is a figure of cold authority and undeniable brilliance. To others, a dangerous unknown. Her true motives remain obscured—but her ambition is clear, and the shadow she casts across the land is only growing.
