"How tough am I? I'm a Dragonborn!"
Iorhazar Dradorium’s Biography
Tasaska Sirendas (sp?)(Alleria’s uncle) was a young adult junior member of the elven court prior to the start of the Calamity. He was present at the event that started the Calamity and escaped the slaughter. This left him feeling guilty for the brutality that followed. To take responsibility, he traveled every land helping people of all races escape and establish themselves in small villages in the west where it was safer. Throughout his time as a member of the court, the required education for that position, and his travels as an adventurer saving others, he learned the languages, customs, and religions of the other races. Once he started to slow down with age, he established himself as a merchant in Seaport. Part of the reason he was able to do this was due to the proximity to several of the villages he helped establish with survivors of the Calamity and the wares from these villages he sold in his shop. Sixteen years prior to the start of our campaign, he was on one of his many trips to the villages to restock his wares and stumbled upon a dragonborn egg. It had been hundreds of years since he had seen one of these eggs and he rarely saw dragonborns anymore. He felt it was fate that he, who had knowledge of the dragonborn language, customs, and religion, should find this egg and took it as a sign that he should raise this child. Soon afterwards Iorhazar was born and given a proper dragonborn name. Tasaska insisted that Iorhazar be raised in the dragonborn ways and with the dragonborn traditions. He tired to teach Iorhazar elvish as well as his own language and common, but it was too much for Iorhazar to learn more than the very basics as he was never very bright. What he lacked in intelligence, he made up for in passion. Iorhazar was treated with a mix of awe and distain in Seaport. Awe due to him being the only dragonborn that many people had ever seen. And Distain as the son of a high elf. He grounded himself from the awe and found solace from the distain in the religion of his people. As a young man, he decided he was to take the Paladin oath and his father supported him in this decision. On his 15th birthday, when he officially became an adult per dragonborn traditions, he took his oath and started to travel the countryside near Seaport. He did not want to travel far as his father was ailing and he wanted to be able to be home with his dying father often. However, he still managed to make a name for himself and built a reputation as a folk hero in the area. Many of these villages had strong connections to his father and had known him his entire life and seen his accomplishments as a child, so it didn’t take long for him to become a folk hero. On one occasion he discovered a village that was having disappearances. As he investigated, he discovered that travelers had been disappearing in the area for weeks. Finally, he was able to trace the source of the disappearances to a sect of abysmal worshipers who had turned to the sacrifice of people in honor of the abysmal gods. He was able to capture many of the low-ranking members of the sect to stand trial in Seaport for their crimes. However, the leader of the group was determined to not be taken alive and fought to the death. Iorhazar was forced to kill him, as he wouldn’t be captured. This incident solidified his status as a folk hero, especially once it was discovered that the group had killed over 100 people and had eaten many of them as well. Once, he returned home from this, he sought council from his father. However, his father had taken a turn for the worse and was now on death’s door. Tasaska reassured Iorhazar that he had done the right thing and confided in him about his responsibility in creating this situation and the start of the Calamity. Iorhazar was shocked, however he loved his father and vowed to go to the Capitol and from there find a way to fight the abysmal forces. And in doing so to redeem his father. Tasaska smiled and thanked Iorhazar, then peacefully passed beyond the veil. Iorhazar stayed in Seaport until the funeral rites were complete and he had closed the shop and sold the property. He then visited each of the villages his father had helped establish to hold a memorial at each for him. Only once every village had been notified and had held their memorials was he free to head to the capitol to start to fulfill his vow to his father.
Tasaka was seen as a bastard by the elven court, or at least members of high elven court. (According to Iliyria)
