Mentality
Education
Freda was raised in a small village which lacked formal schooling. Her father Yoric Ursadorne taught her and her brother Torvund Ursadorne everything he knew about forestry, carpentry, hunting, and survival in the harsh lands of Kessig.
Employment
A carpenter by trade, but an adventurer at heart.
Mental Trauma
Freda was the sole witness of the death of her mother, Ania Ursadorne, from a brutal werewolf attack. She feels guilt over not having been able to protect her from an enemy she should have anticipated in the first place, as werewolves are common in the area.
On the night of the attack, Freda had to relay the news of Ania's death to her family, including her younger brother Gavik Ursadorne, who she knew was especially close to her. For months, Freda couldn't look her brother in the eye, and she has yet to mend the rift that divides them.
Intellectual Characteristics
Freda has an incredible knack for recalling geography, and is an expert in navigating the outdoors. She is skilled in the trade of carpentry, however, she lacks proper schooling to handle finances and make her business work. Fortunately, she did pick up some basic knowledge and reading skills from her more studious brother, Gavik Ursadorne.
Morality & Philosophy
Freda watches over her friends and family as if they were a litter of newborn pups, and strives to become stronger so she can never fail to save the people she holds most dear.
She believes it is every person's duty to contribute to their clan, whether that be through protection, healing, entertainment, or other skill. She doesn't trust or respect city folk, who she considers weak and frivolous. However, she will still work to protect her fellow mankind.
Taboos
Having grown up surrounded by the natural cycle of life and death in the wilds, Freda is tremendously unsettled by undead (zombies) who are not put to rest.
Personality
Social
Birthplace
Fallenwreathe, a small town in Kessig
Contacts & Relations
After Freda's encounter with Sigarda, archangel of the Host of Herons, she committed her life to The Church of Avacyn and the protection of the realm. To this end, she joined a group of cathars to lend her strength in the defense of humanity from the terrors of the world. This group comprised of Rolf Wright, Vessna Holt, Simon Rithers, and Name.
She maintains close ties with the people of her village Fallenwreathe, particularly the village leader Moira Randoll who Freda admires greatly. Rolf has been a family friend of Yoric Ursadorne for years, as he is the family blacksmith and has helped keep the local woodcutters' axes in top condition. He also silvered Freda's axe and marked it with moon runes for eternal battle against evil.
Honorary & Occupational Titles
Blessed axe of Sigarda
Wealth & Financial state
Freda lives a humble life through her earnings as a carpenter. She spends most of her income on basic upkeep of her workshop and keeping her homely cabin stocked and reinforced to weather the odd werewolf attack.
Family Ties
Freda's family is small, but very intimate. She was raised by her mother Ania Ursadorne and father Yoric Ursadorne in a humble home in a small village in Kessig called Fallenwreathe, bordering the dense forests of Ulvenwald, the Misty Wood. Freda and her twin brother Torvund Ursadorne grew up together as an inseparable pair, until Freda's younger brother Gavik Ursadorne was born. Being five years younger than his two siblings, Gavik envied the close bond between Freda and Torvund, but loves them both despite his aloofness.
The Ursadorne children were raised in a musical household, as their mother had musical talent which many consider exceptional (though she would be deemed relatively average in more developed cities like Thraben). Ania sang, Yoric played the fiddle, Torvund played the drums, Freda played the flute, and Gavik occasionally joined his mother in song (otherwise, he would prefer to simply watch). Cheerful melodies could often be heard by those travelling by the Ursadorne household.
But this seemingly idyllic family life would not remain unscathed from the ugliness of the world. When Ania was killed in werewolf attack a year ago, the family was left with an irreparable tear in the family tapestry. To this day, what remains of the Ursadorne family remains in deep mourning over the loss of their matriarch. Ania had always been the glue that bound the family together, helping them overcome the regular family squabbles (which primarily occurred between the twins and Gavik). With the loss of his wife, Yoric has lost the spark of laughter that had always silently reflected in his eyes. But the person who took Ania's death the hardest was Gavik, who had found his best friend and teacher in his mother, who encouraged his pursuit of a higher education beyond what the family had achieved in any generation before. As a result, Gavik began a life of travel and trade, and only visits his father and siblings once every few moons, often bearing gifts he acquired through his keen business dealings (for he is both financially-savvy and generous at heart).
The Ursadorne siblings deeply care for one another, but it would be remiss to ignore the disconnects between the twins and Gavik, who values diplomacy, business, and the city life over the simple but honest lifestyles of Freda and Torvund, who work in more traditional, labor-intensive trades. Torvund specializes in forestry, and Freda uses the lumber he supplies to craft sturdy furniture, buildings and supplies. Together, the twins supply Fallenwreathe with all the wooden goods the village could need. Much to Gavik's dismay, Freda lacks the business-savvy to really make her carpentry profitable, for she tends to give away her work for free or at a significantly reduced price. Gavik often chides her for being overly generous (even though he is acutely aware that many in the village would not afford Freda's work if priced what it would be worth in Thraben, the High City).
Religious Views
As an isolated outlander used to being ignored by elite society, Freda was surprised that the archangel Sigarda and her Host of Herons came to the rescue when her village faced an unexpected zombie attack. While Freda was in the thick of a losing battle, Sigarda approached her and blessed her axe with radiant might, empowering her attacks and turning the tide of the battle. From that day forward, Freda committed herself to the Church of Avacyn, particularly the Host of Herons who attended to the protection of even her small village of Fallenwreathe.
Social Aptitude
Stoic, plain-spoken.
Hobbies & Pets
As the child of a musically-inclined mother, Freda picked up playing the flute and has become quite talented with it. She plays it mostly for her own enjoyment, privately to pass the time and remind her of her mother.
Speech
Unknowingly harsh, loud and intimidating at times.
