The Game So Far
Chad could be viewed as an oddity being what he is and where he is. He has a strong since of self and never wants to lose that. He used to be a pro-gamer on Absolom Station with an impressive winning streak and fame starting to build. During one tournament it was exposed that he had been cheating using his mystic abilities to attack his foes mind while they played. This came from the pressure to keep winning to not let anyone down and stay in the limelight. After that happened he found himself without a means to make money and was struggling to survive. He was approached by the a representative of the Yakuta family with a proposition. "Help us break into Captain Faust's home. He has evidence that could cause us a lot of trouble and we need you to distract the guards and others with your mental attacks. We will go in to steal this while you act". Unfortunately for Chad this was a lie. Captain Faust of Absolom PD was murdered in his own home and Chad ended up taking the heat for it. He was brought before the Confluence and was given a choice, become a Confluence agent or life in prison on Varos. He chose prison because the other felt like death. After having his will power, sanity and body pushed to such extremes he eventually snapped. Chad now believes that everything is just a video game and it is up to him as the MC to save the day with his rag tag group of adventurers in Mining Team 6.
