After washing up in L.A. with no memories of their previous life, they've been building a new one here. They still look at the world with rose-tinted glasses, but you kind of wish they'd stop staring so much.
While their origin is a mystery due to their amnesia, their earliest memory is of wandering through a wealthy neighborhood. As they crossed the street, they were nearly run over. Fortunately, the vehicle swerved to avoid them. The driver honked and rolled down the window to shout as they passed. "Hey, asshole, is that head of yours empty?!"
They continued through the night, having learned to avoid the roads with their angry, violent hunks of metal. Eventually, they came across others like themself - humans, packed like sardines as they walked along the streets. They observed them, followed them, with no particular destination in mind. By emulating their behaviors, it eventually fell in line at the entrance to a venue in West Hollywood called the Tipsy Taonga. The bouncer stopped them from entering. "Oh, sorry. That's my cousin. That's okay, right?" Some individuals in a bachelorette party had taken an interest in this stranger, or maybe just didn't want the line to get held up, and negotiated with the bouncer to eventually let them in as part of the entourage.
They spent the rest of the night partying. At some point, they were asked for their name. They had pieced together an approximation of the response procedure, but couldn't remember if they did. An image flashed in their mind of a sign they'd seen on the way. Somehow they knew how to read it, even if they didn't understand what it meant. "Beverly Hillllls-" They paused as they drew out the sound, looking for a reaction. Nope, not that one. "Beverly Hill. Just, uh, the one hill." This seemed to delight the humans present. "Wowww, that's so crazy! Your parents must be hilarious." And so, they became Beverly Hill. Strangers brought them food, drinks, and flirtations. Bev moved through the lights and the music, emulating human responses, until their vessel collapsed from fatigue in a corner booth.
The owner, Chevy Bronson, found them the next day and after an awkward conversation, took pity on the 'amnesiac'. He and his partner Ken Martell essentially "adopted" Beverly, since they couldn't remember where they came from. With some encouragement they got their GED and licenses. Steven also offered them shifts at the club. It turned out, being so observant made them excellent for this type of work.
Many performers, bands, and DJs passed through, teaching them an appreciation for music, and left pieces of themselves behind in promotional items: stickers, flyers, pins, patches, and shirts. Bev began collecting, and this interest developed into a full-on hobby for records and musical paraphernalia.
Once they'd caught up on their living costs they began saving up, enrolled in classes at UPCC, and rented an apartment near campus.

Appearance
Apparel & Accessories
▪︎ They always wear sunglasses, even indoors.
▪︎ Their casual outfit consists of a cropped shirt with Garfield on it, pink acid-washed overalls (usually with pins), and velcro sneakers. They start with a mismatched pair of melting neon vinyl record earrings.
▪︎ When working or at parties, they usually opt for studded piercings, an oversized band tee, distressed denim shorts, and slip-on shoes. They tend to accumulate kandi bracelets from partygoers throughout the night.
Special abilities
FAKE // Add +1 to any roll made while lying.
BETTER THAN NOTHING // When you gain a Condition, mark experience.
Mentality
Education
They don't know if they ever went to highschool, so they got their GED a few months before enrolling.
Employment
Bartender at the Tipsy Taonga (alongside their adoptive father Chevy, and Patrick)
Mental Trauma
They don't remember anything about who - or what- they were before this.
Do you know what that's like? Not knowing where you came from, who you are, what your NAME is? There's a void where your mother's face was, where your favorite food was, every achievement, every pet, every friend. If you even had one to begin with.
Does anyone even care that you're missing? And... is it better if they never find you?

Personality
Likes & Dislikes
If asked, Bev will examine the vibe and probably find some inoffensive way to say that they like and dislike what everyone else does. This is because they strongly dislike not fitting in. They're also their own #1 hater, and are pretty keen on anything that means they don't have to look at or think about themself at all.
That being said, there are a few things they've discovered a genuine passion for. They love going to trivia nights, even if they are pretty terrible at it, and binge Jeopardy. Piercings and tattoos help them hate themself a little less, and look great on others!
They love music rather indiscriminately, and collect a lot of albums and memorabilia. Lately some of the artists they've been really digging are David Bowie, Kate Bush, Hole, Coolio, Blind Melon, Snoop Dogg, Björk, They Might Be Giants, Bob Marley, and Pavement. They like that Pink Floyd guy too, but they're a little uncomfortable about it because they aren't sure which person in the band he is.
Virtues & Personality perks
Having no real frame of reference, they are very open-minded and generally assume something is normal unless otherwise indicated.
It's pretty easy for them to shrug things off. Maybe it's positive thinking, pure luck, brain damage, or a knack for "freeing your mind"... with or without, ahem, "assistance".
This also makes for a very optimistic outlook on life.
Vices & Personality flaws
Their curiosity often gets the better of them.
They often assume that things will just work out, so they're slow to take responsibility.
After struggling to adapt for so long, they're a little... too comfortable with lying about what they do and don't know. Sometimes, they compulsively lie even when they don't have a reason to. Mostly, it's a survival tactic for fitting in.
Hygiene
It really depends on the day. Most of the time it's at a fairly normal level, but if they're having a dark episode it's one of the first things to slip. Even on a normal day, their hair is usually messy and they use just slightly too much perfume to cover up the smell of alcohol (and other things).

Contacts & Relations
■ Patrick is Bev's coworker at the Tipsy Taonga. He's also fairly new in town, but seems to have adapted to the environment a lot faster. Bev generally looks up to him for guidance on navigating the ambiguities of daily life and social interactions, and over his shoulder for test answers.
■ Subtlety isn't her strong suit. On one hand it makes Vaynia pretty easy to read, but on the other, it just kind of weirds Bev out.
■ Connie's cool. She's plugged in, and she knows how to get you out of your head... and into an even bigger mess. Somehow, Bev can't really say they were bothered by it... and that feels more dangerous than anything everybody else says about her.
■ Bev doesn't know Nerissa too well. They stare in that direction a lot during class, but it's mostly because she sits behind Timothy, who is worse at reading a room than Bev is.
