I've decided to start making journal entries.  I realize that Key is the official keeper of The Chronicle but I'm of the realization there are some recounts that must be that of private commentary.  Today marks one month since I made a pact with an other-wordly being and he promised to keep me safe until Telemond is dead.  That sounds absolutely absurd now that I read that back.  Crazy though it may be, I AM still alive. Is one month too short to call it a coincidence?  I will say that Caine's armor has helped me greatly in battle ever since it's been enchanted.  I saved Velcro's ass in a fight a couple days ago with the teleportation property of it.  Never even got a thank you.  Poor schmuck to be stuck with us.  Every time I put the armor on I wonder if maybe I'm truly Rex Caine and Shifty is my deep deep cover.  Nothing would be a deeper cover in the history of covers than leftenant of the Free Jackals. Of course I shake that thought from my head but it comes back every time I don the armor again.  If, when the war is over and all the dust settles, leftenant Shifty is dead but Rex Caine lives, I'll consider it the lesser of two evils.
