Yjalgen Stonehands is the ancient smith of the Stormcloak order and is well renowned for his skill and powerful weapons. However his time at the forge has aged him harshly, and nowadays it seems he can barely heft a hammer. No one says it aloud, but it is clear he will be passing on soon.

Yjalgen was born in 1194 ABN to a serf family in the town of Stonewash, just like his parents before him. From an early age, he took an interest in the warriors of the Stormcloaks, whose massive Fortress shielded the town from the worst of the hurricanes and storms of the Glacial and Attolian seas. He annoyed a soldier who frequented the Knight and Gale until he caved and sponsored his entry into the trials, much to his own mother and father's horror. Yjalgen passed his initial trials but failed during the first blood against a starved Scorpkin youth. The battle left him with a permanent limp and sent him back to Stonewash in shame.
He followed in his father's profession, smithing. At first, he made needles and tools for the weavers of Stonewash and builders of Halstein, although very soon it became apparent that he was quite skilled at his craft. Even with his father's limited knowledge in weapon smithing, Yjalgen excelled in it, and began to sell his wares to impressed Stormcloaks who heard of his skill from the builders. By age 20 Yjalgen was invited by Stormsmith Melthiak to work in the castle forges alongside other skilled weapon smiths, serf, and Stormcloak.
It was at age 22 that his first weapon was considered masterwork, and by 25, Melthiak retired from the Stormsmith position and personally nominated Yjalgen to take the position. From then on out Yjalgen has been producing the best weapons and armors known to the order, some of which are taken to be enchanted by the clerics in the temple room.
