Twig Mossfut grew up on a houseboat which his parents named the "Wind Abago". His family drifted up and down the Tova river on their whims and fancies. His father, Gob Mossfut, was an accomplished chili cook and master BBQ chef.
When Twig was still small his father left to pursue his dreams of being a world renowned chef in Silverspire, leaving Twig to be raised by his tough, swamp hunting mother -- Gretta Mossfut. His father always sent letters home along the Mucktoe Mail Trail, each one filled with wondrous tales of big city life and always included a little coin and a treat or two.
Twig's mother, Gretta, was a skilled hunter and taught her son the ways of the bow, fishing, hunting and foraging. Twig took to these tasks with singular concentration and passionate intensity.
Twig was was always small and slim for a boggard. Even after a traditional Boggart teenage growth spurt he stood only 5'6'' tall and, thus, was often bullied by a his peers. Among those who made merciless fun of his diminutive stature were the Soggy Bottom Boyz. Lucky for Twig, he was often saved from yet another thrashing by his thick armed, foul mouthed mother. She would arrive in the nick of time and would chase off the bullies with a rude insult or a well placed arrow. "if there are no heroes to save you then you gotta be the hero!" she would always say after.
When young Mossfut turned 13, his father, Gob, came back to the Wind Abago. With him he brought countless grand tales of big city life, adventure and a trophy for the Best Owlbear Ribs, which he earned while competing in a prestigious, invitation-only tournament of culinary skill -- The Mithril Cook tournament. Gob also made some connections in Silverspire and sent a good portion of the prize money to enroll Twig in the prestigious and exclusive youth organization -- the Spire Scouts, devoted to training the next generation of aspiring Champions.
After a few fights between Gob and Gretta about sending their boy off into the wild world, the decision was left to Twig, who was thrilled with the prospect of joining the Scouts and packed his backpack before he was given the opportunity to chose his future.
The next three years were a whirlwind of camping, hiking and competitions. None of his fellow Scouts have ever seen a boggard before they've met Twig. It was his felliw Spire Scouts that nicknamed him Firefly for the dancing lights that followed Twig Mossfut everywhere he went.
After demonstrating outstanding skills in archery and fencing, Twig "firefly" Mossfut and some of the other promising Scouts were chosen to compete in the Silver Spire Stadium Junior Adventurer’s League which was Twig's first taste of fame. Landing the killing blow on an adult displacer beast, he earned himself quite a bit of renown and respect of his team's Scout Master, Sir Roderick Thunderbroach.
Having earned his D, C and B rank merit badges, Firefly was now an A Rank Scout, ready to earn the final set of Spire Scout badges. However, unlike the previous tears of accolades, these high ranking merits involved real life adventure!
Thus, Twig "Firefly" Mossfut returned home one last time to the little Wind Abago and his family to say his goodbyes. Having spent a few days in the company of his loving parents, he set off to the city of Dryfoot to find the first big adventure!
