Born Pullum Rex

Origins

On the remote Isle of Naboombu, a research wizard, named Asteroth magically bred a species of magically enhanced chicken by combining a normal chicken with an Abyssal Chickens. His efforts yielded a chicken that was heartier and more intelligent, but retained a good portion of the sheer aggression from its Abyssal heritage. They rebelled against their creator. Led by a chicken named Rex, they took control of Astaroth’s research tower and formed a kingdom on the grounds. They named Rex the first king of Naboombu and gave this new kingdom peace and prosperity.

Near the end of his reign, a tribe of Firefang Kobolds was discovered on the other portion of the island, Rex’s queen, Regina Rex , went with an envoy to establish trade. Trade talks fell through and Regina was eaten as a sacrifice to Tiamat. Heartbroken, Rex declared war. After many bloody battles, he died and was succeeded by his son, Filius Rex. Weary of war and death, Filius formed a tense and uneasy peace with the kobolds.

Several generations later, Pullum Rex is about to succeed the throne of his father, Avus Rex. Jealous of his brother, Malum Rex searched for a way to claim the throne for himself. Discovering ancient tomes that once belonged to Asteroth, he found a way to contact the god of his enemies, Tiamat. Offering his soul, he struck a bargain and became a warlock under the patronage of Tiamat. With this power and Astaroth’s tomes, Malum cursed his brother and forced him into the form of his natural enemy, a kobold. Due to the influence of Tiamat and his chicken heritage, Pullum retained his wings became a winged kobold, a form hated by kobold themselves.

Having lost his home, he flew out on the ocean on a quest to find a means to break this curse so that he can reclaim his throne from his brother. Caught in a storm at sea, he lost consciousness and drifted off in the sea. When he awoke, he found himself in the home of the druid Veneficus. Veneficus explained that he happened upon him collapsed on the beach and brought him to his home to heal him and learn his origins. After hearing of Pullum’s story, he beseeched nature. The elements answered his call and informed Pullum that, in order to reclaim his form and his throne, he would need to acquire a Wish from a master wizard, as nothing else would negate the evil god’s power. They also warned that the world may need him for a greater purpose and an odyssey was set before him.

Veneficus took it upon him to prepare Pullum for the task before and trained him to be a druid like himself. After being giving a quarterstaff infused with mistletoe and directions to a place to start his search, Pullum starts on his journey to regain what was lost and find his greater purpose!
