More than your average Rover, Theo often feels the urge to become involved in the affairs of his clients. Though dexterity and charm serve him well, he knows that the true power comes from magic. He is known to arrive and depart mysteriously.
The Story of Theo Bumblebrook
Theo first met Hubear's Companions when he was hired to deliver a message to them from
Ilvras Adalautar. He located them in Croaker Cave which was being used by the Lightlifter Gang as a hideout and a resting place for Tessi Westfoot, who had contracted
The Frigid Woe. He stuck around with them and helped them survive the dangers of the cave and the bandits who dwelled within. He also helped them by picking the lock and disabling the trap on Tessi's chest. As the Companions went about checking out leads on the disease, Theo was invaluable, utilizing both his stealth and his magical ability. Nonetheless, as the Companions prepared to travel to
The Nevermelt to search for a cure, Theo elected to stay behind, having business of his own to conduct.
A few weeks later, the Companions were exploring through
Izzarik Delzomen's ancient Iceforge when suddenly he reappeared right behind them in the dungeon. He had come bearing Ilvras' Message to the Characters that asked for them to travel to
Coldhaven at their earliest convenience. Theo stuck with them for a little bit as they explored through the complex, and he helped them defeat a simulacrum of a white dragon, which had been imbued with a fragment of the soul of Rinn Tallmantle, but had gone slowly mad and believed himself to be the legendary wizard
Izzarik Delzomen. He also aided them in defeating a few more simulacra that inhabited the dungeon, including that of a Vrock demon, and by participating in the ritual that brought Rinn back to life. Shortly afterward, he vanished mysteriously once more, and has not been seen since that time. He even skipped the celebratory party held in honor of the Companions by the people of the Snowbear Tribe.
Whether the furtive halfling will reappear again remains to be seen, but if he does, there is no doubt it will be when the Companions least expect him.
