Personal history
Leon was born in a small village in Casteaux, in the mountains. His father, a gentle giant of a man (well, an ogre), ran the family butcher's shop, which had been in the Boucher family for generations. His mother was the village school teacher, although Leon did not inherit her enthusiasm for reading and skill at academic work!
Leon's grandmother Marie looked after him for much of his childhood while his parents were at work. She was an excellent home cook and taught him how to make cakes, biscuits and most of all, pies. Despite being an ogre, she made extremely delicate and fancy food - and her tiny, exquisite pastries won prizes at the village fair every year (much to the disgruntlement of the other elderly ladies).
It soon became clear that what Leon lacked in academic skills, he more than made up for with his sporting prowess, and he rose to become captain of the school Jagenspiele team. He was scouted by the region's top team in Division 1, the second-highest tier of the Jagenspiele league, and became the youngest goal-scorer in 100 years and something of a local celebrity.
Jagenspiele is a brutal game, however, and despite still being a young man, Leon is semi-retired now. He is currently working as a doorman for village taverns. In his free time, he is a keen amateur chef and makes pies for his friends to try - the best ones are sold in his father's shop. Like many young men and women in the vulnerable rural villages, he has learned armed and unarmed combat skills as well, in particular fighting with a maul, throwing a handaxe, and firing a longbow.
When this adventure starts, Leon has been working as a doorman at the Mauville Tavern, where his strength and skill have not gone unnoticed by the local militia...
Education
Leon left the village school when he was 14 in order to concentrate on his sport. He is not very bright and struggles to read and write, although he has learned combat cant for use on the sports field.
Employment
Leon worked in his father's butchers shop for a few years on leaving school, and was then employed as a Jagenspiele player. He is currently working as a doorman.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Becoming the youngest goal-scorer in over a century for his team.
Failures & Embarrassments
Leon once used plain flour instead of self-raising (because he couldn't read the packet), and his sponge cake that he was entering into the village baking competition went flat.
Intellectual Characteristics
Not much!
Morality & Philosophy
Leon is a simple man, living by the guiding principle of treating others how you would like to be treated. He generally keeps within the law, believing it to be just and fair, but is not averse to a bit of violence to settle a dispute. He hates bullies and will always seek to defend someone smaller than him (which in practice, is most people).
person.sexuality
Leon is not very sexually motivated. He is fairly handsome, for a half-ogre, and has several admirers among the young women and the young men who follow Jagenspiele; however, he is currently more interested in his career and not interested in anything beyond the odd drunken shag behind the tavern. If pushed, Leon would probably describe himself as bisexual, but he's usually oblivious to anyone coming on to him.
person.gender_identity
Leon doesn't notice or think about gender at all - he is what he is, and he likes who he likes. He is comfortable in his body and he doesn't see interests as 'masculine' or 'feminine' - they're just things people do.
Taboos
Leon would find it shameful to pick on someone smaller and weaker than him, without good cause. If someone picks on him or his family or friends, though, gloves are off.
Leon dislikes cheating and tricks, and prefers a fair fight based on skill and talent.
Known Languages
Castille (written, spoke, understanding, reading)
Combat cant (spoken)
Personality
Motivation
Being the best he can be, and making others happy.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
He is great at tasks involving strength and skill - not so great at anything academic or logical.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: food, cooking, beer, Jagenspiele, fighting, hunting, physical exercise, spending time with family, drinking and telling stories with friends
Dislikes: reading, libraries, bullies
Hygiene
Leon is a bit messy and inclined to leave his dirty sports socks lying around the place. However, his personal hygiene is good and he takes pride in his appearance. He likes to style his hair and beard with scented beeswax, and he loves buying expensive leather boots and embroidered doublets (think footballer style - a bit garish and blingy, everything is muscle fit).
