Physical Description

Nyx is an average size for a gnome (3"3), but would be considered rather small in comparison to other species'.

Body Features

Nyx has mid-length black hair, and pale skin.

Facial Features

Nyx has large green eyes, and long pointed ears.

Apparel & Accessories

Like most wizards, Nyx prefers to wear her robes most of the time. Always ready for spellcasting, she keeps her green crystal at her side at all times.

Mentality

Personal history

Forest gnomes, differing quite largely from other types of gnomes, lack the sense of curiosity and thirst for knowledge that most gnomes generally have. Not particularly wishing to interact with other races, forest gnomes would rather remain secluded from the outside world. All of this, however, Nyx never really understood. As a young gnome, she never felt that she fit in with her peers, and was always seen as a bit of an oddity. 

Over time, Nyx and her parents began to realize her gift in magic, when her parents took Nyx to the head chief of their village. The chief begins to help Nyx control her magic abilities, as well as begins to teach her a few things himself. Unfortunately, however, the chief’s magic ability proved to not surpass the potential Nyx had in her magic, so Nyx’s parents and the head chief discuss their options to help Nyx pursue magic and spellcasting. Her parents loved and cared for her, of course, and made sure she got what she needed, but they never quite knew how to support her. Eventually, they decided it was best for Nyx to venture out from their colony to pursue magic, to which the chief takes Nyx to a town nearby, called Thornhold, across the mountains, believing that there may be someone there to help her. When they get there, however, they realize this town is not the place for such things, but rather for skilled crafts-and-tradespeople. Fortunately, along the High Road they come across a band of adventurers who were willing to take Nyx in as they were going up to Neverwinter. The chief decides it’s best for her to go, as a large city like Neverwinter may have better opportunities for aspiring spellcasters like herself. 

Along the way, Nyx came across an old, abandoned library, to which she truly discovered her immense curiosity about the world. In awe with all that the world had to offer, she began to truly fall in love with books, knowledge, and perhaps most importantly; magic. Having taken interest in the collection of Divination books that were there, Nyx decided to utilize her magical abilities to pursue her life as a diviner. Luckily, one of the adventurers was a well experienced wizard who had already begun teaching another young magic user along their way up to Neverwinter. This was how Nyx met Shanjian Kwan, a spellcaster who would later join in on one of her adventures. The two both became friends, and were later mentored more formally by this wizard when they reached Neverwinter. The two were mentored in the House of Knowledge, which had unfortunately suffered a great deal of damage in the later 1400s DR. Around the time of the 1480s DR, however, the House of Knowledge reopened, though still in a time of restoration. Their mentor was one of which who felt a calling to restore the House of Knowledge back to its prior glory. So, continuing her life as a newly proclaimed wizard, Nyx studies Divination, and becomes a diviner. 

Some time later, while still in Neverwinter, Nyx is employed by a dwarf that goes by the name of Gundren Rockseeker. Having not have brought a whole lot with her when she had left the gnome settlement, Nyx believed this would be a good way to make a little extra gold. As Nyx had previously known Shanjian Kwan from her time spent in Neverwinter for schooling, it was she who brought up Gundren. Nyx and Shanjian are soon employed along with the elven Inverna Nightbreeze to journey to Phandalin and drop off a wagonload of provisions off at a local shop called Barthen's Provisions. Along the way the trio are met with a goblin hideout, where they rescue Sildar Hallwinter, a friend of Gundren. Unfortunately, Nyx and Inverna had to witness the untimely death of their companion, Shanjian. 

Education

Being the scholarly wizard she is, Nyx has always been fond of the pursuit of knowledge and education. She has had a considerable amount of education in various types of magic, specializing in Divination. Her studies were conducted at the House of Knowledge in Neverwinter, along with a close friend of hers, Shanjian Kwan.

Employment

As of recently, she was employed by a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker, and was to venture to Phandalin to deliver a wagonload of provisions to the local shop, Barthen's Provisions. Currently, she is apart of an adventuring party along with three other adventurers.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Along with her party, she was successful in rediscovering the lost mines of Wave Echo Cave, as well as defeating the dark, Drow elf wizard, Nezznar the Black Spider.

Personality

Motivation

Full of curiosity, Nyx wishes to experience all that the world has to offer. If something were to get her even just one more step closer to discovering what makes the universe tick, she would do it. Nyx longs to understand every 'why?' in the universe, and would do almost anything to reach that point.

Social

Social Aptitude

Though reserved and quiet in nature, Nyx can be friendly in her own right when a moment most needs it. Nyx tends to refrain from extensive amounts of socialization, as it does overwhelm and exhaust her in the long run. When with close friends, however, Nyx allows herself to show her true colors, and can be rather outgoing and talkative.

Hobbies & Pets

Nyx loves reading, writing, learning new things (especially when it comes to magic), and spending time with close friends.

Speech

Nyx tends to remain silent in group discussions, unless specifically referred to. When she has something to say though, you can count on the fact that she truly means it.
