The Mystery of the Silk Dissapearance in Drishti

by Aurelio Baldor

As I was passing through Drishti, I ran into three other adventurers. Two of them elves and the other, another human. The elves; Raphael and 'Ratlord Elf' Remmy were quite nice. They seemed charismatic and were willing to chat. The human didn't give me his name. He was a short litttle whiny brat that didn't want to talk to me and he swiped away an offer to shake hands. Throughout the next few days, I don't think he even gave me his name. I had to find out from the others that I met. 'Muerte', he calls himself. We didn't really get along from the get-go but I will try to make friends. After all, I need to make friends to survive. These other three adventurers and myself were passing by the town hall when a man named Noah asked for some help. He said that lately the silk in Drishti had been dissapearing. He couldn't give us much information regarding the issue. He suggested we talk to the major traders in the town. Our party split off and went in search of information. I went up to Old Ned's farm. I decided to see him as I thought that my experience would help me relate to him better. It just so turns out that he was a crazy old bastard. He was still willing to show me his silk stock. I met Gimbledore, his assistant that runs the workshop in his basement. Gimbledore said he didn't have any issue or shortage to his supply. He did offer to take us up to the forest where he gets his raw supply from. On the way back, I stopped by Mark Hawngrove's house. He was unwilling to open the door. When he answered the knock, he was nothing more than a crazy barstard too. He acknowledged the silk shortage but he blamed the fault on wild coyotes that he claims steal the silk for their own civilisation. I met up with the rest of the group in the town hall. After we talked to Noah again, we found that he really wasn't helpful. Raphael engaged in conversation with a ragged older man whom conversing with Noah prior to our entrance. He asked us to meet him later that night at his house where he would be able to divulge information in privacy. We arrived around 8pm. He let us in, greeted us and said his name is Nevil. Nevil authorises the trades through the town. He told us Mark and Belinda Welkas had suffered the largest hit to their silk supply and noted that Neeve Tillington had also taken a hit but this didn't stunt her supply as much as the other two. It seems the silk income is varying between the traders but each can still get by with what they are bringing in. Nevil says that he sees three lanterns heading up to the forest late each night. It seems they usually pass by later than the time we were in his house. Late that night, we snuck out to get a view on the people that pass through late at night. We could notice the were elevated on horseback and were thrashing the horses as though they were in a hurry. They had swords and there were three of them. We went back to the town hall for bedding and made a plan for the following day.
We woke at 8am that morning and Raphael and I decided to go down to Old Ned's and ask Gimbledore to show us the forest. Gimbledore obliged and the four of us in the party followed him. When we arrived, there was an abandoned camp that was used as a poaching outpost. We decided to take a look to see what may have been left there. I was lucky enough to find a minor grade healing potion. When we turned around to go back to Gimbledore, he had ran off. Three bandits came out of the forest and we ended up fighting them. I'm still not trained very well and as a result, I lost some fingers. I must say, Muerte did help in the battle. Although he is unwilling to speak, he saved my life. Two of the bandits were killed before the last ran off. I consumed the healing potion and whilst it helped, my fingers have been reduced to nubs on my left hand. Raphael and Muerte chased the remaining bandit into the woods. It turns out that the last bandit was Butterbrain, an elvish member of the 'Barrel Land Bandits' group that had contracted Dante's burn. Muerte ended up killing him and looted his body. There were some men on horses coming toward us as we stood around the body of Butterbrain. As they got closer, we could see that they had the symbol of the moonwatchers on banners. The man leading the group seemed to be Sonji Slither. We could tell by his red eyes. We had only heard rumours about Sonji Sliter the Night Rider but we felt this was the best assumption. He leant down with some tweasers and took a fragment of Butterbrain's face. When he looked back at us, his eyes began to glow and the glow illuminated the area. The glow started to dissorientate us as we felt nauseous. We immediately ran out of the shrub and they vanished. When we got back to the town, Muerte read a note he found on Butterbrain's body. It said something about how the bandits were expecting a shipment of silk from the old lady.
When we arrived back in town, we went to Nevil to see if the note meant anything to him. When we handed it to him, he passively refused to give it back. As we scuffled for the note, the idiot Nevil knocked himself out. We decided to investigate his house. We went upstairs and looked in each room. In one room, there was a hatch in the ceiling with symbols around it. It seemed odd so we sent Remmy up to take a look. In the roof she found a dead body. She said it looked exactly like Senrich Gaulden, another trader in the town that she spoke to. We went downstairs and it Nevil was gone. Nevil had ran to Mark's house. We went in and ended up fighting them both. Both of them were knocked unconscious and we dragged them outside and sent for Noah and some guards. Noah told us that Nevil had been living in Senrich's house and we could only assume that Nevil had killed Senrich. Noah acknowledged that we had solved his problem and paid us some gold for helping him solve the mystery.

I can still feel it all. Each emotion of being at home with mother and father. Pipette and Rothnar by formal first names anyway. It has been too long since I had the sensation of eating mother’s hare pie down by the river near our farm. The walls of Che...
