Candle grew up in the forest at the base of some mountains near the Menagerie Coast (?), and while his family were typically the ones that went into the city often to do trade and make ends meet for the family and portions of the clan, Candle would often stay at home and help clean the house or prepare dinner for the night as he loved to cook. He mostly awaited for his family to come home and bring him stories or books of some adventurer’s tales or new recipes to try or anything that could give his little brain more insight to the world because one day he hoped he could go into the city and help trade and find his own stories of adventurers. He was typically fond of this one adventurer he heard of named Nott the Brave as she loved shiny things and stories like Candle did.
 
However, one day when his family finally brought him into town he was so excited and he learned many things, such as how to set up in the market to trade for the day, and how to talk to others in the market as he was initially very poor when speaking. Now though he had made several trips after a year or so and on one occasion he went in to the market and met a figure in an elegant cloak, with large tusks and , by the name of “(Insert DM Opinion for whatever plotline may deem fitting)” who seemed fond of Candle’s name and wished to offer some guidance through the world of how to get by. So the creature he met started to teach him his ways and eventually as Candle got older he got more in the hang of being able to cast certain spells and learn how to use his claws not only to slash but to pierce, not only his enemies but also pierce the lives of others and always leave impact so not to be forgotten.
 
As he was wandering through the city one day, he came upon some commotion near his parent’s stall and found nothing but blood, fur, and a lone claw that belonged to his mother. No traces of any bodies found but it wasn’t surprising based on how much blood there was. The only thing left at the stall was some leftover food and pelts for trade, blood stained, and a small (item for DM to decide for extra flavour.) Now Candle roams the country attempting to find clues towards his parent’s disappearance and hopes to one day find information on what killed them, all the while trying to become more knowledgeable on how to use the shadows and himself to become more agile, skilled, and overall helpful to cleanse the world of any evil that could have done such things to innocent members of his clan.
 
Once a year, the village would celebrate the poor by fasting, and if you don’t participate in the celebration you aren’t respected as an adult. It is called A Poor Man’s Break, where the wealthier of the clan take on the responsibilities of the poor to give them a break for a week so they may rest for taking care of the village in ways unseen normally.
 
I once had a best friend who was almost like a brother to me named Mouth of a Bountiful River (River), and we crafted a small trinket of a Cat’s Eye together using amber and jade we traded for, I left it behind in my village as a sign of good faith to River that I would one day come home with many stories to tell him.
