Usually have a pair of sunglasses on hand but otherwise doesn't bother much when it comes to accessories due to how easy it is for them to fly off during monster slaying sessions. Also likes to wear hoodies a lot.

Special abilities

The Chosen possess above average levels of vitality and resilience, and an almost magnetic aura that draws monsters to them like moths to a flame. They also possess strength and reflexes which far surpass the average person but are also more than a match for the average monster. They also can see through the 'Mists' which obscure monsters from the average mortal clear as day. Chosen also possess an almost uncanny awareness of their surroundings even when they appear distracted, often able to intuitively sense danger well before it strikes.

Personal history

Jackson's childhood was relatively average all things considered, but things got a lot more interesting and complicated for him after he turned 17. It started about a week before prom when Jackson got side-swiped by a car that had swerved hard to avoid a collision. Despite being sent flying several feet practically face first into a nearby tree, Jackson realized he wasn't in pain and remained miraculously uninjured aside from a few scratches.

He dismissed the incident as pure luck but throughout the following week started experiencing vision problems, dealing with bouts of bluriness and what he thought at the time were hallucinations. Worrying he had suffered some kind of brain damage or internal injury, he checked with the school infirmary and local clinic but neither doctor could find anything wrong with him. In actuality, Jackson had started seeing through the Mists but lacked the context to understand what he was seeing. He got that context the hard way the night prom finally rolled around.

Jackson had been happy to attend prom by himself but was surprised when he was approached by a senior that he'd heard had gone missing around two weeks ago. But here he was, all dressed up and seemingly eager to get to know him. He persuaded Jackson to come with him to a spot behind the school gymnasium where Jackson assumed they were going to makeout. Once they got there, Jackson instead found out very quickly that those love bites he was getting had turned into actual bites full of fangs. The senior pinned him against the wall and proceeded to forcefully drink his blood with no sign of stopping.

At first Jackson felt fear, then anger, then shock as a sudden surge of energy flowed through him. He shoved the senior off of him and sent him tumbling back several feet, giving Jackson time to run back into the school. He attempted to duck into a nearby classroom only for the senior to burst throughthe window. Jackson held the frenzied blood-sucker at bay with a desk chair long enough to get hold of a weapon and subsequently staked him with broken wooden metre-stick. As his would-be killer turned to ash, Jackson was left disheveled with a blood-stained collar and more questions than he could possibly put into words.

From there, Jackson had no choice but to adapt as the following summer break and senior year were filled with various monsters coming out of the woodwork to prey on him and his classmates as well as the odd school faculty member. Jackson fought them all and survived, but he didn't do it alone. He teamed up with various students, the school janitor and even a few monsters that year as he confronted numerous threats and protected the school from whatever supernatural problems arose. He befriended Nico, a witch in training whose powers and knowledge of the supernatural proved invaluable in helping him save the day and making it to college in one piece.

It was also thanks to Nico that Jackson was able to find out where his powers had come from. He had become a Chosen, one of a rare few who became empowered in the face of monstrous threats and could fight back against the forces which threatened and preyed upon humanity. Nowadays Jackson is attending classes at the Texarkana college, still fighting monsters and still teaming up with a variety of folks to get it all done.

Education

Survived High school in one piece despite one hell of a hectic senior year. Currently studying liberal arts with a focus on video production and audio engineering but has taken folklore classes as a side elective.

Employment

Self employed at the moment. Has worked jobs as a barista and volunteered to help organize a bunch of community sports activities as a teenager. Still enjoys doing volunteer work but is mostly limited to being unofficial part time campus security/neighborhood watch volunteer.

Intellectual Characteristics

Has a tendency to be impulsive and struggles to plan ahead long-term. When he's in a fight however, his impulsivity and scattered trains of thought crystalize into a deadly focus and ability to adapt on the fly to his opponents moves.

Morality & Philosophy

Monsters don't have a right to hurt or exploit humans and they are definitely NOT superior to humanity. However much they posture to the contrary, the Chosen will always be there to humble them in the end.
