Early Life

Born in the small village of Cyprean on Athera's southern coast Kara had a fairly normal early childhood. She learned much from her mother and spent her days playing in the fields that surrounded the town. Her life was happy and uneventful until her eigth year. Her father, a woodsman had come home after weeks in the country side angry and drunk. Normally a peaceful man, the loss of his companions in the wild had changed his heart. During an argument with Kara's mother he struck her. Falling hard against the table her mother struck her head. In her sleep that night Kara's mother passed, and her father was never the same man again. Feeling the burden of his wife's death he took Kara to the woods, he taught her forestry, the way of the hunt, and archery. For the next two months they lived out in the frontier, before another shift came in her father. They returned to Cyprean, returned to their home and while Kara went for bread fruit for her father he took his own life. On her return she found her father, hung from the rafters. Upon finding her father she gathered her things and ran. With her fathers knife and her bow wrapped in a thick wool cloak she left, set to never return.

The young girl ran through the wilds, stumbling in fear she hunted and survived. Having traveled several leagues she was found by a older ranger. A man who would take her in, and teach her further on the ways of the Ranger. This man, a chieftan of his found clan raised her as his own, taken by her great strength and resilancy at such a young age.

Rise to Chieftan

Having been raised as a hunter from an early age Kara took quickly to the Rangers lifestyle showing skill well beyond her years. As she grew she learned from the Chieftan what it meant to be a leader, and honed her skills. Many years later, at the age of fifteen she occompanied the Chief and several others on a patrol on the edge of Atheran territory. While on patrol they came across a large encampment of brigands that were encrouching on a small Atheran village. The Chief decided to take action and attacked the encampment. In the chaos of this fight Kara proved herself to be an immensly capable fighter, but they had underestimated the size of this band. When the fighting stopped the Rangers had lost four men, and the Chieftan was badly wounded. He instructed the survivors that Kara was to take his place, and they should carry on. Kara morned deeply for the loss of this adoptive father, but hid her pain behind a mask of calm as she took to her new role as leader of the Rangers.
