Balin family has mostly passed except his twin brother Jareth (a well known harper). Both the brothers are known for there knowledge seeking backgrounds. Balin seek Phandelver for its rich history and possible artifacts.

Balin family has mostly passed except his twin brother Jareth (a well known harper). Both the brothers are known for there knowledge seeking backgrounds. Balin had read about Phandelver and the area around it. The rich history and possible artifacts in the area has drawn him here. He has been working with the Rockseeker brothers to find the lost mine. The Rockseekers seem to have luck finding these lost mines.
 
Eventhough Balin has natural magical abilities he has always had a knack for melee combat. Never scared to get into a hand to hand or sword to sword combat. plus the ability to fight like this and use magic sometimes gives him the upper hand.
 
When Balin goes to new areas he puts his hood up so he doesn't stand out in a crowd. After being somewhere for awhile he eventually puts his hood down and joins in on a lot of the surrounding things going on.
 
While his time in Phandelver Balin has found himself visiting the local general store that was being ran by a woman called Elmina Barthen. Since his time in the area has lead to a "secret" relationship with her. They have been dating for some time now and Balin is excited to see where things lead.
